Need help wiring reverisable 115 volt motor . my switch is a 3 position toggle on/off/on, and has 9 taps on back. motor is 1 hp and has 6 taps in it.

Single Phase Terminal Markings Identified By Color: (NEMA Standards) 1-Blue 5-Black P1-No color assigned 2-White 6-No color assigned P2-Brown 3-Orange 7-No color assigned 4-Yellow 8-Red

L1 and L2 are the posts to hook up to, there is no polarity so either way works,

see side of motor for schematic take off back either turn knob to 110 volts or you have to switch the brown wire to a different lug and the white wire to lug #2 then the black or colored wire goes to #1 and white goes to #2 green to ground

call service person

take off back panel of motor if a switch turn to 115 volts or 120 volts what ever choice they give you if no switch see side of motor it will show you on low voltage to move the brown and white wires

please verify the name plate to be 115 230 volt motor.there will be a schematic that shows you exactly how to hook up this motor depending on the voltage being supplied to it. The main thing is switching between 115 and 230 volts this is a selector switch this very easily forgotten about. Please make sure to check that and double check that to make sure its on the proper selected switch. Good luck

THERE ARE THREE SCREWS 1 AT ONE O-CLOCK(GOUND) THE OTHER 2 AT THREE O-CLOCK.ARE THE LINES(POWER). THE CAN GO ETHER WAY ! My friend did a pretty good search for similar toggle

1) He found a 'wall-type' 30Amp DPDT at Global
2) He said he couldn't find others ... but the internet changes.
3) This switch could be mounted in a box that screws to side of chipper. Switch will work fine with 125V.
4) Radio shack and the automotive stores carry 5 amp versions of the DPDT, but they burn up like you said

6) Note: Wiring is different than automotive-type DPDT toggles where power connects to center pole and loads connect to outside poles
-Power on global DPDT connects to poles L1 and L2
-L1 switches to A1 & B1 ... while L2 switches to A2 & B2.
-Poles L1=>A1 and L2=>A2 turn on-and-off at same time

7) In a reverse of the schematic shown above, my friend is using the global switch on 30Amp water heater to switch voltages between 120 and 240 so we know switch can handle the amperage. schematic

The red and black wires if ran correctly are the load lines(power). The white is neutral or ground. If its a 1/2 to1-1/2 hp motor connect the red and black wires to terminals #1 and #4. If its 2 hp use #1 and #4. If its 3 hp use #2 and #4. Connect the white wire to the green colored screw. A grounding conductor should always be connected under the green grounding screw, which is located within the terminal compartment of the motor. You can check the breaker for the wire colors, one should be black and the other red. The white wire should be terminated to the neutral/ground bar in the can.
