White screen it turns on but only shows white sceen. can't playback anything or view menu screen. only see white. please help

You know you can change the monitor brightness? Check the manual (eventually online) to see how to change the settings. Please check if you can playback pictures you already shot, to make sure the display still works.
You also could remove the battery, charge it and then replace it. This acts like a cold boot from a computer.

There seems to be two separate issues here. I'm going to assume you have a charged battery pack in the camera.

First, the screen. Turn the camera on. Do you see the menu when you press the MENU button? Does the shooting info show when you press the Info button? Can you see previously taken photos when you press the Playback button? If none of those show up then something is wrong with the screen (or the battery is dead).

Second, the viewfinder. First, make sure the viewfinder in the back is clean. Now turn the camera on and look through the viewfinder. Do you see the eleven focus marks? Do you see the info at the bottom? Now turn the camera off and remove the lens. Don't touch anything inside the camera! Do you see a mirror at a 45-degree angle? Is it clean? Look at the focusing screen above the mirror. Is it clean? Now look through the viewfinder and point the camera out a window. Do you see a more-or-less white blob, or the same grainy dark film?

More than likely you will need to replace the display screen but before you do take the screen out and reseat the LCD connector. This will sometimes fix a white screen.

If not, a new LCD screen runs about 15 dollars shipped from eBay and is pretty easy to replace.

I have posted the answer to this problem if the sceen is misaligned just turn off the machine and hold down the frist to buttons turn the machine back on the singer sceen shows up touch ithe sceen it should freeze and then a small black box should show up touch the box and it should move to a differant spot touch it four times and then rub you finger accross the stright stiche white button at the bottum of the sceen this saves the changes.

This is a feature and not a defect of the K100D. You can turn this off by going to the menu and going into the second tab (playback menu). Once there, go to preview display, where you will have 3 options - off, histogram and brighten areas. Set this to off (your camera is set to brighten areas, that is why the white parts of your photos appear to be blinking).

While viewing a picture, press up/down on the multiselector to change views.

Have you checked the display mode you're in? If you have the display set to off (to save power) and also the picture review time set to off, then you'll just see a black screen. Try pressing the 'Disp.' button below the screen when the camera is on - it should cycle through different settings with each press: Off, On, On with picture info. Similarly, in the playback mode this will show you more or less info about the picture you are viewing.

Even if the display is switched off, if you have your 'review' option in the menu set to anything other than Off (i.e. 2 seconds), then you should see the picture you've taken appear on the screen straight after taking it.

If it's not that, then I don't know the answer....

If the screen won't show anything then you are going to have to send it in and have Casio look at it. More than likely the LCD is going out but just hasn't "gone" completely. Give them a call at 800-706-2534 and then option 2 and tell them that your lcd is going out and they'll tell you the closest place to send it.

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
