Blinking Lights! I have Epson 760 with 3 touch pads and the on/off touch pad. All are lit and blinking. Left pad covers the color & black & white cartridges, center pad covers paper and the right pad isthe off/on switch. I don't know where the ink soak-up pads are and I don't have a cleaning touch pad. These were referenced in other fixes.

First, confirm that the display is working. If the display is still working, try pressing some of the touch-pad buttons. If some of the buttons respond correctly but others don't, it is likely that the touch-pad is at fault. (Some manufacturers sell the touch-pad separately from the control panel. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the touch-pad and control panel together. If you cannot replace the touch-pad individually, replace the touch-pad and control panel.) Your printer has reach its maximum count of cleaning and printing. This need to be reset using epson adjustment program. But before resetting make sure that you have replace the waste pad inside your printer or it is much better to point outside the hose where the waste ink goes out.
you can download a reseter just to be sure you also replace or wash the ink pad... replacing or washing the pad is difficeult bcoz you should dismantelle the cx5500 coplettely you should have an advance technician skills to do it...
The safey counter has run out for the ink pad. You won't be able to do anything with the print until you reset it.
Go to the Epson website and download the reset program and run it.
They will have a disclaimer telling you that the ink pad MUST be replaced by a trained tech, or the ink will overflow and short out electrical parts. I have had my printer for over 5 years and most of my ink goes into the ink pad as I dont use it much and most of the time at least one of the print heads is clogged, my pad was no where near overflowing. I soaked up as much as I could with tissues.
If you move the catridges to the left and look down you will see the ink pad. Use rubber gloves, it is very messy
This is a utility to manage your ink. Gives an accurate count of how many ink shot are left in each cartridge. The printer told me I need a new magenta but this program says I have 13% left. It also has sepparate routines for cleaning the black and color (unfortunately not individual cartridges) http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
The pads do need to be replaced. It is not as simple like the 1280. it does need to be taken into an authorized service center. we are, and located in southern california.
I have taken the pads out and 95% of the time are all completely soaked. you can do what you did, but you will not get the full life out of a pad.
The flashing lights are a "Maintenance request error" or a "Fatal error". Most of the time it is a "Maintenance request error" which means the waste ink pads need to be serviced. You can reset the waste ink counter but the ink pads will need to be serviced at some point.
