My power was off 2 days. My GE phone shows

the time needs to be set on your answering machine. If you buttons on your base press and hold the day/check button to set the day of the week.
Most likely you don't have the base buttons on your model so on the hand set press the flash button to enter the answerer remote mode. Press the 8 key to enter time set menu. Set hour an dmin using num buttons. Set am/pm using caller id buttons. Press #pause to confirm the setting. Set day of week -/+ and #pause to set them.

No instruction manual

On the handset that is on the base is the one you need to use to set the time and date. It will also clear out the CL on answering machine.

On the handset without pushing talk hit the flash key. A message will appear on your phone and it says Answering machine. You can listen to all the options but to set time and date ---push the 8 button.
Set your time by using the phone keys such as it's 09:53 then look up in the right corner and use the + arrow key to set AM or PM. Then hit the # key. Then in the upper right corner it will say Mon---use the + arrow key to set the day. Then hit the # key. The message on your phone will say the day is and then the time is. Then hit flash. Then you can check your answering machine and see if that worked. This took me some time. I would not buy another phone like this again.

• If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.
No dial tone
• Check or repeat installation steps
• Make sure the base power cord is connected to a working electrical outlet.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit and the modular phone jack?
• Disconnect the base from the wall phone jack and connect another phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone on the second phone, the problem might be your wiring or local service.
• The handset might be out of range of the base. Move closer to the base.
• Make sure the battery is properly charged (for 16 hours).
• Ensure the battery pack is installed correctly.
• Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK/CALL BACK button? Did the in use indicator come on? The battery may need to be charged.

Register problem

Each handset has to sit in the base cradle for at least 15 seconds to register. It should say ready within a few seconds. Same thing after the power shuts off. All handsets have to be re-registered in the main base set.
