If you consider yourself mechanically inclined, and have some experience in soldering, In most cases, this is really not too big of a deal. If you are not that handy, dont mess with it! Youll thank yourself later. To proceed: 1.) Remove back cover. (make sure no children or pets are in your work area) HIGH VOLTAGE!!! 2.) Be aware of high voltage transformers. They are "live" even after being un plugged! 4.) Locate the Tuner (metal box in which connector was attached to) The "lid" on the box also serves as the ground for your F- Connector. Remember: outer part of conn. is ground. inner part is your signal. Survey the tuner to make sure it is not too damaged. If circuit board inside of tuner is broken or cracked, it may need to be replaced. Usually, the conn. is simply torn from its moorings and needs to be re-soldered. 5.) Always "tin" your parts first. clean and flux parts to be soldered. tin your work. Find some way to hold parts steady while solder cools. Bare hands are not a good idea. Parts get very hot....very fast...Determine how you will connect your center conductor first. Once that is done, the outside ring is a snap. Remember, Tip and ring ? If any of these terms do not sound familiar, you probably dont want to fix yourself. Good luck.....Theroad
This problem is for people who know how to do soldering. Just buy a new connector , it cost $0.50 and $15 for labor if your technician is good . it ask some expertise, because you have to remove the tuner open the tuner and make the soldering by putting the new part.
Good luck.
