I cannot remove the oven light cover in my Whirlpool gas range.

It just moves counterclockwise and clockwise a little bit. The manual says to unscrew it counter clockwise, but it will not budge/ What's the secret?

Put on a rubber 'serving' glove or dish washing glove and it will give you some traction to grip the glass to turn it

We ended up using a slightly damp dishtowel. It was great to know for sure which way to turn it.

Yeah, I had quite a time getting my bulb cover loose but it really does just unscrew counter-clockwise. I had to first wrap it with a rubber bicycle innertube, and then got a pipe wrench on it. Voila!!! it came right off.

WANT T REMOVE BASE OF BROKEN BULB STILL IN SOCKET RANGE

Unplug the oven. Take a potato and cut it in half. Jam it into the socket as far as you can. Now unscrew the broken socket by turning it counter-clockwise. The potato will form to the inside of the socket and twist it out.

How to change oven light

Which model Whirlpool range do you have? For most Whirlpool ranges that I have used , the oven light is covered by a screw-on glass cover. When the oven is cool, unplug the range, open the door and turn the cover counter-clockwise (to the left). Then remove the 40W bulb (again counter-clockwise rotation). Replace the bulb with another 40W appliance bulb. Then replace the cover by turning it clockwise until it is tight. Do not over-tighten either the bulb or the cover. Then plug in the power cord for the range. (Unplugging the unit makes sure that you will not get shocked if anything goes wrong. Sometimes the bulb may break in the socket - in that case, use pliers to unscrew the base of the bulb before replacing it with a new bulb.)

Whirlpool has the manuals for most of their appliances on their support site: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFliXuEuX564wSQ%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView .

I hope this helps.

Cant get oven light cover to come off. we have turned oven off, turned counterclockwise. it wont move

It is probably the small round glass cover you are talking about. The glass is fairly thick and strong. Try using a pair of multigrips to turn the cover, just be gentle.

How to change the oven light bulb in a candy f245. Glass cover on inside doesn't seem to undo - moves a bit each way. No apparent access from outside.

The glass cover does come off. Use some latex gloves or non skid material and grasp the lens firmly and turn counter clockwise.

Trying to unscrew bulb cover in a neff oven

no WD-40, turn of the power, break the bulb and remove the base with pliers. More than likely there is dielectric corrosion between the base and the socket and this makes removal next to impossible

Kenmore oven: glass dome for interior light removal

Hopefully someone answered your question by now. If not, the glass bulb cover sticks sometimes, but it does turn counterclockwise. Be firm with it, let it know who's boss. Once you've removed it, you can replace the 40 watt appliance bulb. (The manual suggests you unplug the range or disconnect power for your safety). Good luck.

Oven

Pry back the bulb glass cover wire spring and remove glass cover. Use heavy rubber gloves or a plastic bottle opener(piece of serrated soft plastic/rubber) and unscrew counterclockwise.
