Enter your BIOS settings by pressing F-10 or F-2 or Del ( I don't remember but it should say at ist screen when starting up.)
Next find the booot device page
Next set your first boot device to CD/DVD drive. and then Hard disk.
F-10 to save
Install restoration disk and reboot unit.
Hope this has helped

SOURCE: received OXCO1aOO1d

Was this error by any chance received after you tried to upgrade VISTA to SP1 or SP2 (service pack 1 or 2)? I had the same problem. After spending two hours with Microsoft Online Support, the final solution was to restore the factory default with a recovery option, typically from the restore D: hard drive or recovery disks. In my case, I pressed the F8 key during startup to activate the restore option from the D: drive. Lost all my data, but at least the computer worked like it did when it came from the factory. Hope this helps.

Toshiba often puts the recovery data on the D drive (may be hidden) on your laptop. If so, you should be able to reload. It will do a format and you will lose everything. Hope you have a good backup - like Carbonite!

How to unlock a toshiba laptop

  • Restart the laptop and try logging back in using the new password.

  • Log on without the Windows XP installer. If you don't have a Windows bootable CD, use another computer with internet access so you can create an emergency recovery disk (ERD) that will allow you to unlock a Toshiba laptop. Browse through the internet and search for ERD software.

  • Burn the ERD program into the blank CD and use it to reboot the Toshiba laptop that you want to unlock. The computer will automatically detect the program, so it will take you to a series of prompts where you can change your password.

You should get in touch with them as they must provide a disc or recovery parition which was bought when they bought that laptop.

If you have a Windows XP disk then you can normally install by going into BIOS and setting CD as first boot device. If it gives hard drive not found then you will need to install the SATA driver from the Toshiba website first.

    Crashed files

First of, your files did not crash. Your PC did. Your files may only get corrupted at best.

First, download a registry cleaner. A good one is Avast registry cleaner. Also download a virus removal tool or an antivirus. Avast also can be a good one. I recommend getting Avira Free version.

Boot your PC into Safe Mode (press F8 while PC is booting). Then install Avira in Safe Mode. Scan your PC. Run Avast registry cleaner. Reboot.

    Not booting up

Unfortunately you Windows OS crashed. Try pressing the F8 once you boot up. It should lead you to an option screen where you will be choosing SAFE MODE only. If you can boot up to windows under safemode you can do system restore or uninstall the program you just installed.

If you can't go into safe mode. Use the recovery disc. Pop disc 1 then upon booting the computer, press F12 to load boot menu then choose the dvd/cd drive. Once it finished loading, choose advanced option instead of Toshiba recovery wizard and it will lead you to system restore.

If both of the steps failed, unfortunately, you need to do full system recovery. Just do step 2 and choose Toshiba recovery Wizard, Out of the box state. This will delete all your data.

    hope this helps.
