mash f4, f8, f12... just mash all of the f keys as soon as you turn it on and it should come up.

The DVD player is defective, cost wise it is best to just replace the player.

When you start your computer, just keep on pressing the 'del' key or F2 key which allows you to enter the BIOS setup.In this setup you will find the boot device priority option , you just need to use these options to select the device which you want to boot.If by boot options you mean you want to go to safe mode, then just press the f8 key while your PC starts to boot so that you have a menu asking you to go in safe mode or choose other options.Hope this helps.Regards,Sajjad

Driver problems also create this issue.
for that uninstall old graphic driver then download and reinstall graphic driver then check.

You should get in touch with them as they must provide a disc or recovery parition which was bought when they bought that laptop.

If you have a Windows XP disk then you can normally install by going into BIOS and setting CD as first boot device. If it gives hard drive not found then you will need to install the SATA driver from the Toshiba website first.

The flashing cursor is there to tell you that the BIOS couldn't load the OS. Reinstall one more time. If even that it behaves like that then the hard disk is dead, replace it.

Hi, Do you see the speaker icon on the bottom right of the task bar? If you dont see it, it means you need the driver for the sound card. In that case go to toshiba's website http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp and under downloads - select the correct model and download the driver for the sound card. If you DO see the icon and it's not muted or anything, that means it could be the speakers but I highly doubt so. I hope this helps

I assume you mean the volume bar.....if so its the wrong driver for Win 7

right click deskop and choose properties, when the windows comes up go to settings and adjust slider to a smaller resolution. Click OK and maybe reboot if asked, now you should be OK.

you got 2 things here:
1. pc shutting down unexpectedly
2. blue screen

1. the cause could vary:
a. cpu overheating: make sure you are letting the laptop to breath, open/clean vents.
b. motherboard failure: get a new laptop.
c. battery failure: try to take the battery out and connect the laptop and test/replace the battery as needed.

2. blue screen: if it is a Blue Screen of Dead, try to note any error codes and post back or at this stage it could be virus: take the hd out, connect it to an enclusure and hook it up to another good computer and attempt to save the usuful data. then reinstalled hard drive in laptop and reinstall os.
b. hadware failure: replace laptop.

on the password:

the only three possibilities where you may be asked for a password is if you're trying to access a password protected bios (which you rarely do with f8) or if you're accessing the recovery console in which you need to enter your windows user name and password or if you're accessing the computer in safemode in which you can enter any user name and their password or the user name: Administrator and for password it could be either blank or whatever password was set when windows was installed

Take the battery out & see if it works then, perhaps the battery is so flat it is holding down the PC. It will should go on just the adapter. If this works, then you will have to plug battery back in, & adapter and leave alone for at least 8 hours. If it still won't work, you may need a new battery.

But I recommend you to use any CD or DVD burning software like Nero, BurnAware etc. There are lots of free burning tools available on Internet too.

Why I recommend third party software is because you can select burn speed plus minimum disc burning error.

First of all you have to erase the CD after that you can write on this CD. For erasing the CD you have to use a software like Nero. So please install this software then you can erase and re-write on the re-writable CD.
