the clock is lit up, heres the num. mod.# C970-590934, ser.#NF02420987

  • naughtynan Jan 09, 2008

yes the clock is at the right time, i double checked the mod. # and it is correct.

  • naughtynan Jan 09, 2008

i'm in New Brunswick, Canada, and it is a Kenmore

  • naughtynan Jan 09, 2008

when i turned on bake it's a separate dial, just the time of day shows on screen, it turned the other dial to 350o and the light didn't show that the oven was on i tried what u suggested it still didn't work. this stove is just an ordinary one , no selfcleaning, just a dial for Bake, Time Bake, Broil and Off, the other is for the tempertures. then the separate dials for top of stove, which is coils.

  • naughtynan Jan 09, 2008

i think the temperture switch is not working it feels loose, where the other dial have a click to them, but i removed the dial and manually turned the steel rod, but still the light doesn't come on or the oven, my uncle will be here in a few days to help me move the stove to make sure all the cords are ok, and to see if he can fix it, all these tips you gave me where a lot of help, i'm keeping this info for when he comes, it will help him and i just might have to get in touch with you again, thanks for your help

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2008

and is it a kenmore are you in usa

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2008

ok im in tenn usa is that a slide range. i believe that's a Frigidaire serial num for a slide in range .two companies build for kenmore Frigidaire and whirlpool and if you hit bake then 350 should come up in the display and pre heat light should come on if display shows (- - -) then hit temp up and let me know what happens

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2008

well first you need to confirm that you have correct power at the out let and where cord connects to the oven if you have proper power coming in then you either have a bad bake switch or thermostat id look at the bake switch first after confirming power, outlet, and cord the thermostat is the dial with all the numbers

I have a kenmore electric stove. The top burner

I have the same problem, it turns out that the clock has a sensor in it to turn on the oven. If that sensor is not working, which is found in the clock, the oven does not work. I had a repair guy come out and it will cost 350.00 to repair. My stove is only six years old. It is only two months to the day off warranty. Apparently a power outage can cause the sensor to go. Hope this helps.

Gas stove top works, broiler works, oven does not

is it electronic iginition? are you asking about top burner pilots? if so there are under the top in the middle beteen each side of the burners 1 pilot does burners on right and 1 on left. oven pilots are underneath you have to remove bottom door look in there at back and look up and you'll see it. if its a electronis ignition range you have no pilots!! glow coils and sparkers....

My oven made a buzzing sound, and and smoke came out form the oven. Now it wont heat up, but the top stove still works...Any ideas? Thanks

fryed switch or fryed burner
if smoke came from inside stove likely the burner is fryed
try setting oven to broil and see if it heats up
if it does replace lower burner

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Kenmore gas stove Model 790

It could be that the sensor wire that controls the main gas valve is out of position. It should sit in the pilot light flame.
Look, and adjust if needed.
If it's ok, then you need a replacement main gas safety valve.
This should only be fitted by qualified personnel.
They do give up eventually after years of heating, and fail safe.

Bake and Broil not working

After you hit the function you want...bake or broil...click the up arrow.  That should give you the default temp of 350 and the unit should light.  Now adjust to the temp you want.
