THe panel doesn't light up to show the time, temperature, or minutes on timer. The oven seems to work, however, even though I can't see anything on the panel. What will it take to restore the panel? The stove is 14 years young.

Nancy,
I understand that you are having trouble with your oven, model# CPLEF398DCE, not working/heating, even though the display screen is showing everything to be working fine. I suggest you give your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by switching the circuit breaker off, that the oven is on, for 3-5 minutes. Once the 3-5 minutes has passed, switch the circuit breaker back on. The first thing you will need to do, is to set the time. You will do this by entering in the time and pressing start. Turn the oven on. If you are still having trouble with the oven not working/heating, I suggest you contact your local authorized technician to come and diagnose the oven, to see why it will not work correctly.
From your description it sounds that the board is the problem. I found the control panel you need for a lot less than $200 though. I found one online from a store that I have bought from many times. Part and shipping is about $153. They sell brand name stuff too and they have great service. I hope that this helped you.
Unfortunately this seems to be a problem with several of the jenn air models. I have replaced quite a few and have also talked to thier tech line for servicers and they don't have anything else to offer other than replacing the control board. Each time I ran across one I found no other problems and I tested everything. If you replace 3 times you can usually get them to give you a new one. www.appliancehelponline.com
Many White-Westinghouse manuals can be found here:

I had the same problem and was able to solve it. They didn't have the exact manual for mine (a KF450G), but they had one that was similar enough (KF580H) to solve this issue. Setting the knobs to clean is only part of the process, to get it to run you need to set the timer.
Read the key information below transcribed from the manual:
---
To set the controls for the cleaning cycle:
1) Close the oven door.
2) Be sure the clock shows the correct time of day.
3) Be sure the Start Time knob is set for the same time as the clock. If not, turn the knob to the time on the clock. The knob will then pop out.
4) Push in and set the Stop Time knob for 2 to 3 hours past the Start Time.
Example: If the Start Time and Clock read 1:00, set the Stop Time for 3:00 or 4:00.
5) Turn the Temperature Control to CLEAN.
6) Turn the Selector to CLEAN.
If all controls are set correctly, the oven signal light will come on and stay on until the oven reaches its cleaning temperature. It will then cycle on and off.
---
There is more information in the manual, but it's much too much information to manually transcribe - I've only typed enough for you to get it working. Note that the LOCKED light won't light initially, it only lights once the oven exceeds 550 degrees. Once that light is on, the oven will not reopen until the temperature drops below that point, even if you stop the clean cycle.
Be sure to empty out the storage drawer under the oven before cleaning.
I sorted it it is a simple solution, if you take the top of your oven you should see the problem...it will be big and black..dont spend a ortune getting it sorted i brought the part off ebay for less than a fiver..
just cant remember what it was called..very simple to fix though.
