I bought it 5 years ago and it had been great. Now when I tried to turn it on, the red light either stays on or blinks many times, but no picture appears. I tried unplug it but to now avail. Clearly something need to be replaced. Just not sure it's worth the while.I bought it 5 years ago and it had been great. I hv this same problem on my 6yr old Samsung HCM422W reported by westside97. No picture or sound, just the blinking red light when I plug it on or when I press something on the remote. Has any one with this same problem on this TV been fixed or had a solution? or is it time to throw this out and get a flat screen lcd?

The deflection board is what causes that with your model. You need the PSB260 deflection board available at www.tvrepairworld.com listed under RCA circuyit boards. the board has a 6 month warranty and comes with installation instructions.
Count the number times the red light blinks this is an indication of the error code as to what the probem is, if it blinks 10 times then this is a power supply failure.
hello, this can cause the red power light to flash 3 time also if the lamp cover is not fitted securely this can also cause the light to flash 3 times 4 times, Diagnosis: Vertical deflection stopped. Possible causes: +- 15V is not supplied. (D board), IC8003 is faulty. (A board) Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby state after horizontal raster, Vertical deflection pulse is stopped, Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped hope it helps
3 times standby red light blinking shows that lamp cover has not been placed back properly after lamp replacement. Make sure lamp cover, (the first thing that you removed to replace lamp in tv) is fixed securely then turn tv On.
