U have serious convergence board issues. If the solder connections on board go, that will definitely cause the hassle. If you are handy you can remove the convergence board and reheat every ****** connection on that board. Or if you check out google you can carefully put the board in an oven and use the bake setting for about 8 minutes at a temperature I forget.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence


These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Buy a used remote on ebay.

Two things come to mind. !. are your cables plugged in right? Yellow->yellow, red->red, white->white? 2. Is the sound on the TV itself turned up?

The convergence has failed on your TV and will need to be repaired. You can call a shop or do it your self with a convergence repair kit from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . This is a failry common problem that all projection TV sets will have at some point.

Its called convergence and this model should use two of the stk-392-560 chips----TVrepair.com sells kits for this based on model number but soldering is involved.your chips are similar to this one but will have different number on them.

8 blinks means that the High Voltage Block is shorted - part# 8-598-955-32 (about $80)

To reset this unit start with pwr off. Then on oringnal remote press the display button, the number 5 button and then volume up button and then hit the power button this will take you into the service mode menu, Press the number 8 key and then hit enter, this will set the unit back to factory specs. The set should turn off itself and then power on itself to channel 3, All user setting before this procedure are reset to factory mode..
