HP laserjet 4L paper jam after printing one page.

I have a hp laserjet 4L and the printer will print one page and then the next page, the printer will jam. I open the paper tray and the jammed paper is half in the process of printing and half still in the tray, so i pull the sheet of paper out and reload it and it'll print one page again, until the next page and that page will jam up. I feel as if the printer picks up the paper crooked, even tho i loaded the paper in the paper tray correctly. Please help!

    Can i buy the pick up rollers myself and replace it myself? If so where can i buy the pick up rollers and find the instructions on how to replace them?

    I have the exact same problem with my HP LaserJet 1020. Only mine is, I order to print 1 page, but it will end up rolling up 2nd page (not printing on it) and then jam exactly half way. Try to print 1 more copy, it'll do the same. So I always end up having half page jammed after every single print. It's frustrating...

You need the pick up rollers replaced. Call your service centre to replace pick rollers as these are feeding the pages crocked

My HP LaserJet 4L printer just makes a grinding sound when I attempt to get it to print. It makes the sound for several seconds and then the Paper light starts to flash without printing
Common issue with these older 4L printers. The problem is a small plastic gear on the main drive motor has cracked. This is what causes the noise and since the machine is not "running" there is no paper feed and thus the paper jam light. Basically there is no drive to any of the printers components. May be hard to find a replacement motor these days but that is what you would need to fix the printer.

When you removed the paper jam, was the paper torn? If so, did you ensure that you found all the pieces. (Put the piece of paper back together like a puzzle to verify). There could be a piece of paper stuck in the printer that is causing the paper sensor to fail.
The other possibility is that when you removed the paper jam, something became dislodged in the printer. Forcefully removing paper from the printer can cause this.

Paper jam
Remove the toner, and try to gently pull out the paper jam.. If the page gets torn, or ripped, make sure you have all the pieces of the paper removed. Then re-start the printer. Print a test page to make sure the paper path is clear..
