I have the same problem.I left the batteries in the Columbia Walkie Talkie for a long time.
They are a plastic wrap of 5 aaa batteries.......if you can't find the direct replacement for those batteries, you can just make up a battery pack yourself.
The main thing when doing this is to use the same TYPE of battery. For example alot of these battery packs use NiMH or NiCD batteries. The charger that came with the radios is designed to charge this type of battery. So look at the battery pack and if it says they are NiMH bateries... pick up 5 AAA NiMH batteries... connect them in series and your set.
All you really have to do is get the same type of battery that is close to the same voltage.
So if your stuck.... just make up a battery pack.
If you had a charger for Lithium Ion batteries, I would say make the battery pack out of those type insted. They are 1.5 volts insted of the lower voltage of NiMH and other rechargeables.
The slight increase in voltage will increase the output wattage of the radio.
But again, Lithium Ions use a different type charger than NiMH.... so if you want to use the same charger.... use the same type of batteries.
Take care
