Dell poweredge 4300 Bootup problem after replacing cmos battery

I just replaced the cmos battery on my poweredge 4300 running server 2003, and now I get a scsi bios not installed error and it hangs when trying to boot. I have checked the bios and the time and all the settings are correct. Not sure what I erased or needs to reset, but prior to this all was booting up and operating just fine. I am beating my head against a wall here..........please help; Thanks

Is the cmos jumper the same as what is labeled "isa_clear" that has no jumper installed currently? If that's the case I would add a jumper to the"isa_clear"block; reboot, remove the jumper and reboot set time and bios settings and should be good to go.....just wanted to clarify before I screw something up, because I looked at the dell manual and saw nothing specifically labeled cmos.
Thank you very much for your help! :)

Look for a jumper on the motherboard where it would allow you to clear the cmos. basically you would move the position of the jumper and turn on the computer and let it clear itself.

Then after it clears turn off the machine, put the jumper back into its original position and then turn the computer on and see if the message goes away.

Also go into the BIOS and put in the correct time, date, year, etc.

CMOS Battery replacement

Hello here is a link to the homepage:

http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?cat=sup&s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=replace+CMOS+battery

And here is the download site for drivers:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/poweredge-xeo6650

Try also to upgrade the bios. just make sure its the right model.

You maybe have to set up the boot settings when you replace the cmos battery or renew the bios.

Good luck

The internal fans of a dell power edge 4300 server are not functioning we dont know weather or not they are heat activated please help.

the fans should be running all the time, they do speed up when the temperature rises. they are controlled by the BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) you may want to see if there are any updates for the BMC from dell. There is a cd/dvd called the dell SUU (server update utility) that will scan your servers hardware and install any necessary updates.

We have a Dell Poweredge 4400 & a Dell Poweredge 2300. Both have amber lights blinking - hard-disk failure indicators. They are using RAID. What do I need to do?

Go into the RAID setup during bootup (not always in the BIOS), but will post somewhere on startup (should say SCSI/SAS Controller card press CTRL + M to enter setup) or similar.

When in the raid setup check to see the status of the drive(s).

Was the machine running and it's just happened etc or are these machines you have obtained and are plain not working?

What audio driver to i need for my dell poweredge 600sc server running windows server 2003? Is there a direct link? I search and have not found anything.

dell poweredge servers are not needed for sound. DELL support will not support any sound cards or care anything about your audio issues. You will not find audio drivers because again, a server's purpose has nothing to do with audio.

Dell Poweredge 4300 Bootup problem after cmos battery replacement

Check the version for the Raid Controller. This may need to have the firmware to be upgraded. If the controller is removable, take the controller out and then see if the computer will continue past the bios. If the controller is built-in, then disable it in the bios, and try to see if it will get past the controller setup.
On most system I have worked with, if you are booting from a scsi hard drive, then the bios cannot be set to let any IDE to boot, or the bios must be set to no hard drive to boot. There may be two places in the bios which must be set to no hard drive. Another setting which may make a difference, is the scsi boot setting, if it has it. Another chance is that something is wrong with either the cabling or the controller itself.
As far as the jumper, that may be the erase bios jumper. Usually though, you have to move the jumper to one of two, sometimes three or four jumper. You would simply move the jumper to the erase setting, and then move it back. However, by doing that, you will lose all setting which had been set. Also, if the computer will go past the bios when the controller is removed, that could also mean some thing is wrong with a drive, or the boot drive is not set right in the controller bios. If a scsi drive is a boot drive, that boot drive number must be set right in the bios of the controller.

Bootup Problem of Dell PE6650

Your NVRAM was corrupted (probably by a dead CMOS battery) or your hardware configuration has cnaged (deah boot disk, etc). Enter setup to see if the date/time has reverted to a previous date. If so, the CMOS battery needs to be replaced and the BIOS reconfigured for the server. Otherwise, check to ensure that your disk configuration is correct. If the battery is not dead and your disk configuration is incorrect, you may have a bad hard disk.
