SOURCE: screen went black on my 42" sanyo model dp42647 lcd

Hi there! The panel may be in protection mode. The Inverter board is the most logical area to start after checking power supply Voltages.(5,6,24 and 13Volts). There may be coils on the Inverter Board which have bad soldering or faulty. Other than this it may be main board which controls switch on or off. If all else fails, refer to a repairer. Beware of High Current!!! Best Wishes and Good Luck, Jus004

SOURCE: My Sanyo DP32649 Will not turn on. The green light

Sounds like the power supply is bad.Do you know anything about working on circuit boards ? I bet some of the capacitors need replacing. This is a quick and very cheap fix if you know how to do it.

On the back of the tv is a panel held by two screws.Remove those and you have instant access to the power supply.Look and see if any of the capacitors are bulging or leaking.

Sanyo tv Dp42849 Hey guys hru, my tv went black last night and the green solid light is blinking now. I did some research on but not so savvy on tv things. I pulled the plug and plugged back in the screen...

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your set, in its search box on the right side. Some models of Sanyo TVs uses Philips circuit board.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

Sanyo DP42849 no picture but has sound

Sounds like an inverter problem. On some of these sets, the inverter and the power supply are on the same board. These boards tend to be quite pricey, $100 + range. I've worked on your particular model with the same problem, and it was a bad inverter/power supply board. I would recommend you get a diagnosis to be sure.

Where is the inverter board located in the sanyo dp42849

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

The Tv screen is no longer coming up! The little green light comes on but the Tv doesn't power on! I bought it new in March 2010. It's just black.

Hello,
What you would do first is unplug the TV from the wall outlet and let it sit there for 30-60 seconds then plug it back into the wall.
Now if that hard reset did not work what you got here is a display fault, now many TV in this age would carry that 1 year parts warranty were you would seek out that warranty where you bought the tv.
Many people do not purchase extended warranties at the cash register and in my expert opinion why would you invest into the purchase of a TV and not fork $59.99 for extended warranties?
Extended warranties would cover this and more, part for this could cost you anywhere from $129- $200 Labor is also a huge wallet eater.
Now I could not tell you from here what exactly the issue is because I am not at the back of the TV nor anywhere within miles. So its basically hard reset or repair shop.
Hope this Helps,
Thanks for using fixya.com

Will not come on it worked fine earlier.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Hello my Sanyo dp42849 42 inch has no picture and no sound. when i turn on the tv a green light in the bottom right hand corner comes on and occasionally flashes off and then back on.

First, you need to know the sub-model of your TV.

It is called "chassis" and is shown on the back of the TV on the label where the model number is shown.

For example it can be "P42849-00" or "P42849-01".

Then search at www.coppelltvrepair.com/search or just go to www.coppelltvrepair.com and enter the link for SANYO DP SERIES to search for that.

Here's an example of a repair service (note it may NOT be the one for your exact model though!):
