GE P7 Oven

My parents have lost the manual for their GE P7 (electric) self cleaning oven. They are trying to get it to go into clean mode. They have raised the window cover, latched the door shut, put both the temp and oven control in CLEAN mode, set the clean time for 1.5 hours, but can not figure out how to initiate the clean cycle.

Is there a pdf of the manual around, or can you tell me how to start the cleaning cycle?

I, too, have lost my manual and none of the timers work. I can never remember how long to run the clean cycle for, but will turn it off as it has been a little over 2hours and your post mentions 1.5hours.
I initiate the cleaning cycle by completing steps mentioned above and then turning the top dial (which has a clean range on it) clockwise until the clean light comes on. I then just time it by my watch to turn it all off. Then I wait a couple of hours before attempting to open the door. Don't forget to take the racks out, they are not suppose to go through the Clean cycle.
Good Luck,
Linda

1960s GE P7 Built-in Double Oven (Self Cleaning Upper Oven): How do I get my oven open after Self Cleaning, if I've followed the Directions, but is still locked?

The Self Cleaning cycle should NEVER be used. It will break the oven once you have used it a few times. It also burns out elements, fans, electronic control boards and LATCHES. The 650'F heat is just too hostile. You need a service engineer to remove the oven and replace the latch.

Please always include full MAKE and MODEL in ALL questions. Two weeks ago we had a similar issue with an oven that had a manual sliding latch. I found the manual for it, and a parts schematic.
