The keypad will lock the door but not unlock the door

Strange that an internal door has one of those!

No, you will need a locksmith or some way to get in the room another way (window, cut a hole in drywall). Or you spring the door jambs apart and slip the lock. Sometimes you can remove the hinge pins. Or drill the key lock out with a Carbide Drill. It is a $95 lock.

The inside handle will always open the door whether it's locked or not. This is a safety feature. If it locks from the outside then it's working as designed. Might help you to watch this video.

Be sure the outside knob is unlocked before closing the door.
Schlage locks do not lock the inside knob or lever. After releasing the turn button, also turn the inside lever or knob, then check the outside knob.
What model of lock is this?

Since you have the model number, you should be able to call Schlage and they'll tell you how to reset it.

the lock is set in factory mode and needs to be programed to the security code that you choose.
go through the code set up and program in your code and the lock will work as intended.
if there is a problem with the lock and it will not accept the codes then the only way to disable the motor function of the lock is to remove the battery itself and use the key bypass until you can get the lock fixed or replaced.

There's a wealth of info under that heading. You will be able to see a PDF file of the original print instructions, as well as a video of how to install the lock. This installation video (second item down) will be useful to allow you to disassemble it and view the sticker. This is also a great time to change the 9-volt battery! Batteries should be replace about every three years.
The seventh item under that same header is a video which walks you through how to reprogram the keypad to your new code, using that programming code that you found on the backside of the keypad.

How do I enable the alternative setting (Code Turn)? (BE365 Deadbolt only)
1.) Enter your current 6-digit programming code
2.) Push the button
3.) Press 7 on your keypad

does the key pad light when you press a button at night? If yes, the fuse is ok.
Do you have the plastic card with the permanent code in your owner manual packet? If yes, tryit.

Keyless Entry The keyless entry keypad is hardwired to the GEM. The GEM interprets the inputs from the keyless entry keypad and then controls the associated operation. The keyless entry keypad will be illuminated for five seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it will request the illuminated entry feature to turn the courtesy lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination will turn off, as well as request the illuminated entry feature to turn off the courtesy lamps. When pressed, the keyless entry keypad supplies the ground signal to the GEM or the GEM receives a signal from the keyless entry remote transmitter. Then the GEM outputs a ground signal to the appropriate lock or unlock relay which supplies the power to the actuator to lock or unlocks all doors, including the luggage compartment. The keyless entry remote transmitter also unlocks the liftgate or activates the panic alarm by sending a signal to the GEM.

Got in contact with kwikset took out battery pack then put it back in. keypad reset itself.
