Ask the dealer because this kind of repairs should be must warranty on hidden defects, a television is made for a lasting time between 4 and 6 years then yes lead free solderings and are they reliable ???
Its very strange that SONY is having in between 2 years a defect.
Its much to early for a real Sony .it was no old refurbished second hand or a forgotten older model ?
Very Important is this is to realize in case of trust was it the intention of the technician to sell you a new t-con or a refurbished one ? thats should in many cases the weak point if you look on that refurbished board that exact the same problem with the same ic could happens then for shure there is a hidden defect. its easy to see where was repaired on the board.
The replace of the lcd panel is maybe guesswork on the fcc cable connection sheets it should only to be replaced if there where vertical lines somewhere
If no warranty is give on hidden defects by the dealer write to Sony A solid complaint.
The dealer is the first contact let them inform a representative of Sony regarding this complaint, the four-year minimum healt of your tv was not reached, you as a customer is entitled to a good product that is expected at least four years. warranty on parts wages in leniency possible but not required.
Questioned about that dealer: are they commercial boxes sliders or solid proffesionals where you just pay and get service without having to smoke a cigar from your own box

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Capacitors are very inexpensive. Less than a dollar a piece.

I don't have a listing for your exact model, but a similar one has its LCD panel costing over $600 net. Check with a local servicer for parts availablility as the model I used has the panel no longer available. It is possible that a replacement panel won't be available for you either.
