Is this a heat pump or a gas heater? If it's a gas heater and the blower comes on immediately, you have what's called a critical failure. A high limit has tripped. You need to check the roll out switch and the high limit temperature sensor mounted in the combustion chamber. If you have a stack limit switch, you need to check that too

SOURCE: BLOWER FAN WONT SHUT OFF WHEN THERMOSTATE IS OFF

The compressor coming on when the contact is pushed is o.k. they all do that. As for the blower fan not shutting off, some brands (Payne for example) the heating fan relay is a n.c. (normally closed ) relay. so if the time delay relay or thermal link are bad or not connected, the fan will blow even when it is turned off.

SOURCE: The Heat/Vent fan is not turning on

I had the same problem. Try replacing the blower resistor behind the glove compartment. ($59.00 for part at dealership & 20 minute easy job. Two screws at bottom of glove box and two screws on resistor and replace. The blower ($150.00) motor may be causing the resistors to blow. I have already blown two speeds on my new resistor and believe it is because the bottom bearing on the blower motor is a little tight causing it to stick or slow start at lower speeds. No problem yet on high. Probably needs replacing.

SOURCE: No heat coming out fan blows but no heat

you could have air trapeed in the cooling system. If so, go to shop with evac/fill equipment to burp the air.

ALso, feel the heater hose going into the heater core and out of the heater core. They should be hot. They are about 1 inch round and go into the firewall behind the engine.

Is the engine temperature normal? If not, replace the thermostat.

I assume you have electronic system since you said you push a button. Perform this test and get codes

  1. If inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, perform the following EATC On-Board Diagnostic:
  1. NOTE: If sent to this section from Section 18-04, perform the EATC On-Board Diagnostic, record any or all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

    • The EATC On-Board Diagnostic will detect concerns in the system control functions found during the On-Board Diagnostic and will display (DTCs) in addition to intermittent (DTCs) for concerns that occur during system operation. The vehicle interior temperature should be between 16° and 27°C (60° F and 80° ) F when performing the On-Board Diagnostic. If the temperatures are not within the specified ranges, false in-car temperature sensor error codes will be displayed. Record all error codes displayed during the test.
    • If any (DTCs)appear during the On-Board Diagnostic, follow the diagnostics procedure given under ACTION for each DTC given.
    • If a condition exists but no (DTCs) appear during the On-Board Diagnostic, refer to the Symptom Chart Condition: EATC System Inoperative, Intermittent or Improper Operation .
    • The On-Board Diagnostic can be initiated at any time with any resulting DTCs displayed. Normal operation of the system stops when the On-Board Diagnostic is activated.
    • To enter the On-Board Diagnostic, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds.
    • To exit On-Board Diagnostic and retain DTCs, push the blue (cooler) button. The control will exit On-Board Diagnostic, retain all DTCs and then turn OFF (display blank).
    • To exit On-Board Diagnostic and clear all DTCs, press Defrost button. The vacuum fluorescent display window will show 000 and all function symbols for one second. Then, the EATC Control will turn OFF (display blank) and all DTCs will be cleared.
The On-Board Diagnostic should be deactivated before powering the system down (system turned OFF). Intermittent DTCs will be deleted after 80 ignition switch ON cycles after the intermittent condition occurs.

I bought my 1999 oldsmobile cutlass new and now im having problems with my motor fans coming on,my ac don't work anymore but for the fans to come on I have to turn my ac switch on,if I switch to heat

If the fans work, (I'm guessing there are two of them) only when the A/C is on, then it means that the temperature sensor is damage. If possible, have a professional take a look at it. Both fans are OK,

Why will the ac on my Coleman Evcon C.A.M.II not come on when the fan will work and the heat will work?

The a/c component is is dependent on water access. I am guessing there is a problem with the water connection. The cooling aspect is simply the fan pushing the air past cold water. If everything else is working, take off the front and see if anything is wrong with the connection.

Why does the reset button on my air conditioner keep popping out when i plug it in

You are tripping that outlet's breaker. Either too much is on that breaker and circuit or that circuit is not big enough, enough current to power that unit.

Why won't my heater shut off? I can dial the fan down to the lowest blower setting, but it won't shut off at the Off button. The temp. is therefore set at 83 degrees. The modes work i.e., floor, defrost,...

If the ventilation system is set on any setting other than off (I'm talking about the vent, heat, defroster, ac, etc) the fan motor will automatically run at low unless yo select a higher setting. To get the fan OFF, turn off the ventilation system by selecting OFF.

Car is reaching 220 when i idle...fans dont come on

On that car when you put the A/C on it throws it into a bypass mode to where the fan runs it's normal, but when you don't have the A/C on The fan should come on around whatever the thermostat rating is . try dropping the thermostat down to a 165 rating and also check your tempature sensor to see if it's operating at the right setting. Useually when a car over heats it'll damage the sensor so best to replace it to make sure and check your water pump flow also,it should move the water in the radiator quite rapidly whenever the thermostat opens .

I have Goodman combination heating and cooling outdoor unit PBB series. I am wanting to know if when the heat is on should the fan outside turn or is that only ac

If it's a heatpump, then yes the outdoor fan will turn unless the unit is going in defrost mode. But for the majority of the time a heat pump is operating in heat mode, the outdoor fan is running.
