SOURCE: screeching snow blower

On one side of your machine you will find a cover that you can remove, the belt for the auger is in there. From what I can see there is no adjustment. Check to see how the belt looks. If it's chewed up it will need to be replaced. If you remove the belt try to turn the impeler to see if it turns freely, if it doesn't then check to see if there is something wedged. if nothing is wedged and the belt is off and it still don't turn by hand it could posibly be a bad bearing.if it does turn by hand. Also check the belt pulleies to see if they are ok, the only pulley that will sshould spin freely is the idler pulley, the one on the engine shaft should spin the moter so make sure you pull the spark plug wire off to check that one, and the auger pulley should spin with the auger.

I have a toro ccr2000 that starts but when I get to the snow it shuts off

Shuts off -I would look for a bare place on the spark plug wire. Slows down and stops under load (snow) then check for a bind in the throttle linkage. The govenor is not opening the throttle as the engine slows down.

Snow blower shorted out

If you're Toro electric blower is slowing down, throwing sparks, overheating or not starting you may need to replace the carbon brushes. Replacing brushes and cleaning commutator early can prevent damage to motor armature!
There are Electric Motor replacement carbon brushes on E-bay for all three motor sizes (7 AMP, 10.5 AMP, and 12 AMP) of Toro Leaf Blowers (Toro Rake and Vac Super and Ultra Blower and "850" Vacuums)
Search E-bay for: "Toro Blower Carbon Brush"
- 12 Amp leaf blowers Toro Super (Old model 51552) through Toro Ultra (New model 51609).
- Toro 850 Super Blower Shredder-Vac 12 Amp (model 51575).
- 10.5 Amp leaf blowers Toro Old through Toro New model 51573.
- 7 Amp leaf blowers Toro model 51586 and other Toro 7 amp blowers.

Won't start

The carburetor on your Toro 418ZR snow blower is located on the right side of the unit above the rear wheel (if standing behind the snow blower). You will have to remove the top main cover and the starter housing to access the carburetor cover and assembly. Here's a part diagram that may help out: http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Jacks-Parts-Lookup/Manufacturer/toro/5860/62997

I have a toro gts 6.5hp model 20017. The enginer is overreving a lot. I had changed the carburetor and believe i put the linkages correctly, however i noticed the governor arm is rotated slightly right...

The way i set the govenor is, slacken the screw on the engine govenor arm, push the arm fully over to open the throttle wide open, now turn the actual govenor shaft within the arm in the same direction, fully retighten the govenor arm screw,

Toro rider 16-38 HXL when I start it revs at FULL speed and sounds like it will blow up. I slow it down with choke all other linkage seems to be in place properly- Is there a trick to fixing?

Three options:

1. The carburetor throttle plate (closest to the engine is stuck); clean it with gumout and work it back and forth

2. the linkage is hooked in the wrong hole ; check the wear pattern on the throttle shaft plate to see if it is in the wrong hole.

3. The govenor arm or gear is not adjusted properly; loosten the govenor arm, push the throttle plate of the carburetor all the way closed. push the govenor arm the same direction all the way until it bottoms out. tighten the arm clamp. Test again

I recommend getting a manual or at least a free parts diagram from a local shop like www.arcolawn.com

Good luck
Joe

please vote me up if the fix was good.

Toro 534 Question. Poor "throwing" capacity

if your unit has an air vane governer this may be stuck or damaged. If you have this type of governer it will be above the fly wheel.Requires removing front cover. Also check the linkage between governer and carb. make sure it moves freely.

Carb. Problem?

It could be the linkage from the govenor to the carb, maybe the throttle shutter is stuck. Try WD 40.
