Dear Sir,

*********** board is Asus old p4 Mother board. It supports maximum 1GB RAM of DDR 400(DDR1). According to your post your computer having only one 512 MB working RAM. If you want good purformance you can upgrade your computer by purchasing another 512MB DDR400 RAM and install it on another RAM slot.If your computer have only one working RAM slot, you can purchase 1GB DDR400 RAM & install it on older RAM place. I think it solves your problem.if you have any problem come back with more information. I will try to assist you more accurately.

good luck

Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?
A: Possibly How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251.

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and will a faster speed be backward-compatible?
A: DDR memory with support for DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 speeds. Because DDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR speeds listed below, even if your manual calls for PC1600 or PC2100 speeds.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?
A: 3072MB.
Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.
Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?
A: No. No, you can install modules one at a time, and you can mix different densities of modules in your computer. But if your computer supports dual-channel memory configurations, you should install in identical pairs (preferably in kits) for optimal performance.

A: No. Your system does not support ECC. Because ECC and non-ECC modules should not be mixed within a system, install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

I have an old K8V-MX mother board. Recently, the 1G RAM spoiled. I try to replace it by 2 x DDR400 512M RAM. Both 512M are used and with the same part no Kingstone KVR400X64C3A/512, but different...

Click on this link. It will open a copy of the motherboard manual. Check section 1-7 on system memory. Verify the part numbers of you RAM against those listed. SOme will only work in one slot or the the other but not both. Older boards were strange that way, in the early days of dual-channel memory mode.

Hope this helps!

I'm getting no sound through my speakers and getting code 28 in the error. I've checked the BIOS for the K8V-MX motherboard and it says the audio is enabled.

The error code you state suggests that the proper audio driver is not installed. You need to re-install the audio drivers.
Follow this link to download the audio drivers for your motherboard.

Pls help me how to solve the asus K8V-Mx mother board

you could check if the pins of the processor aren't bent or broken...(even one single pin will make the processor malfunction and in your case it might not boot up) or you could have wronk ram modules so check the motherboard supportedmodules and check the modules you currently own.
