I recommend you talk to a Nordic Track service representative or technician. I am guessing that the motor that raises or lowers the incline is broken of malfunctioning. Our representative never told us the consequences are if the intermittent, routine diagnostics the machine runs do not complete or "freeze" up.

this function is to give a little more intensity exercise, while helping to raise the heart rate and thus burn fat. watch it more practical as a stress test.can use the runner at a speed of 3.5 mph and an elevation of 7.5 of inclination and see good results

1) Lube the elevation motor, see the diagram, parts gear + shift
2) adjust the POT, for a little and see if there are better improve.
3) RUN the software calibration for diagnose, troubleshooting, fix it.
