Call sharp back again and tell them you first want to register for aquos advantage program, which is free. By doing that your service will go much quicker with them. You then tell them that you want to get set up for service. They will have one of their authorized professionals come and fix your tv in a matter of days. If their tech cannot fix it, they will replace your tv free of charge as long as you are within your warranty.

The grey screen is caused by failed transistor for the switched 12vdc for the T-CON board, same as my pictures here (my does not have the DVD), but it can also be the main 12vdc itself that is bad, you will have to do some probing. check if their is a signal on voltages around 3.3v at the inverter board if none their is a problem in the board which is in the processor.
