Unlike older coffee makers, the new Mr. Coffee designs seem to have reliability issues in regard to their circuit boards/controllers. You are right in your thoughts. If the unit is under warranty, I would suggest returning it for a replacement. E-mail your concerns directly to the company.

BTW--there are no user serviceable items within your coffee maker.

SOURCE: algae in Braun coffee maker float tube

Use a mix of 50% laundry bleach and 50% water.
Half fill the tank and let it soak for several hours.
Rinse tank and refill with fresh water only.
NEVER RUN BLEACH THROUGH THE MACHINE.

I would assume that the chip/timer unit has failed in the unit. Not sure you want to try to disassemble the coffee maker to get at it. Have you tried reversing the a.m. to p.m. (thus the clock would read 5:45 p.m. at 5:45 a.m.) settings and seeing if the machine would brew the coffee normally? (although I seriously doubt this will work, but...)

Hold down on/off button until it blinks. Display should read 3:59. Adjust with "h" & "m" buttons to set auto shut off duration.

Clock works but on button does not. Help! I need my coffee! this is for my Braun Aromaster KF 12.

I would take it apart and verify if the switch works with a DMM (multimeter) on the ohms(resistance) setting.

if the switch is bad then replace it.

if the switch tests ok then keep searching until you find the problem.

if a major part is broken you might want to buy another at a thrift store or yard sale and keep the broken one for spare parts.

Coffee maker timer does not keep the heat plate on after 10 mins.

I was able to fix my little problem. I unplugged my coffe maker and waited 'bout 10 mins for the whole thing to shut down. Once the clock shut off, I reset the time. Secondly, I pressed the on/off button and held it in for 2 seconds until the red light started flashing. I set H to 1 and M to 59(I have never seen this before). anyhoo, afterthat, I set the timer to the exact time I wanted to smell my freshly brewed coffee. This morning, the red light seemed to stay on and kept my coffee nice and hot.
