SOURCE: Electrolux Hi-light

Burnt smell is probably the belt slipping. Even though it looks OK, either the belt needs replacement and/or the roller needs cleaning and/or lubrication at the ends. Try cleaning the roller ends first and then light lubrication with WD40. If belt works, you are done. If not, replace belt.

SOURCE: dryer makes loud squeaking noise when spinning

there are two possibilities for this question. 1) there is an idler roller that give the belt the correct tension . unplug dryer and remove idler roller see if it spins freely if not replace it @0 there are two drum rollers in back of machine thatdrum rides on remove drum it's self explanitory how to remove drum and very easy also. you can roll these wheels and check for free movement visually check them ,one or both should be worn out or the bearing in the wheel has failed before putting old or new wheels back sand the wheel shafts to get any gunk off them and that's about the only thing that can make a dryer squeek

SOURCE: making a terrible loud squeaking problem like a

Hello, I think by your description it's likely the rear drum bearing & hub. It is quite common on frigidaire/white westinghouse made dryer's.**unplug the unit before servicing** Try and search for a tiny little ball bearing at the back of the unit and see if you can isolate the noise is from there. If so you may be ok with some hi-temp silicone based lube for now, (you'll need to apply it from inside anyway, so you might as well replace it) but the bearing assembly probabely needs to be replaced...if that is the source of the squeaking. I hope that helps, Good Luck :)

Dryer Squeak, Tight Drum, Burning Smell

The loud, constant squeak/squeal from your Frigidaire dryer, combined with a burning smell, indicates a serious problem that needs to be addressed. While replacing the drum bearing kit was a good step, it appears that there may be other issues at play.
One possible cause of the squeaking could be a worn or damaged drive belt or idler pulley. If the idler pulley spring came off, it is possible that the belt is not properly tensioned and may be slipping or rubbing against the drum, causing the squeaking noise. Additionally, a slipping belt can generate a burning smell as it heats up from the friction.
Another possible cause of the burning smell could be a malfunctioning heating element, which may be overheating the dryer and causing the burning odor.
It is recommended that you stop using the dryer immediately and unplug it from the power source. It is not safe to continue using a dryer that is producing a burning smell.

Gas & Electric clothes Dryer sqeaks, rumbling, & noises

If your clothes dryer has any sort of uncommon noises coming from it they are fairly easy to repair. The drum turns with the help of a belt with a belt tensioner. The tensioner keeps the belt tight. The tensioner also has a roller with a bearing. If the bearing goes dry it will squeak. If the bearing locks up the belt will burn and you will smell burning rubber. Eventually the belt will break off. The roller can be ordered from most companies with the belt. It is advisable to replace the drums front seal that rides along the front panel. These will wear and squeak too in time. To service these parts the front panel must be removed to gain access. All parts are fairly easy to repplace with someone helping you to hold the drum up when re assembly come up. You can also ask me more questions if needed.

Loud noise burning smell

Most likely a belt problem or a worn out tensioner. You left off the year, make, model and engine so it's a guessing gamet. Read this post on how to track down the source of noise

I got an 96 jetta and its has a burning smell and makes a sqeeking nosie

Could be a belt that is too loose.

Is the smell like burning rubber?

Is the squeak coming from the engine compartment?

Does the squeak go away when you rev the engine?

If yes to these questions it sounds like a loose belt. You would need to replace it.
