My onkyo 8211 stopped functioning; drraws power, rest of unit is shut down. Took it apart and found the 252049 4amp 125 volt fuse is blown.

Ordered one from Sears, but size is wrong and 250v. Any place I can get the right fuse?

SOURCE: TV will not power on

The MZ73L is a posistor, its basically 2 thermal resistors back to back. One is connected across the mains, the other one connects the deguassing loop to the mains. When the TV is 1st turned on the mains connected R is cold so its neighbour is cold, that allows a large surge of current into the degaussing coil. The mains connected one rapidly gets hot and heats up the other one, this increases the resistance of it and the current being dumped into the degauss coil fades away. As the 1st one is a heater it will get hot and you will see signs of heat on the PCB, BUT its still a very good place to start. The heat is normal, but if the 1st ceramic disk in it has died then you will short the mains and blow the fuse with it.

SOURCE: fuse blown

Ours is 3 years old, no longer under warrenty and we just had the same problem. I bought a package of four fuses for $2.99 at Radio Shack. As the man mentioned earlier, follow the power cord to the fuse...very easy to find. Easy fix and saved a $100 service call. TV is working great.

SOURCE: AR1 Subwoofer Keeps Blowing the 5 Amp Fuse

Well, so far so good. I reinstalled the newly repaired amp and fired it up and so far, so good. Ran it through about an hour of fairly intense break-in tracks and then ran it through about 2 dozen power up and down cycles to try to get it to fail (better now than a month from now and have to fight them on backing it up).

Where are the fuses located in onkyontx-sv525- only found 1 at power in

If you pulled the cover and only see one fuse, and if it is not blown, then you need to search deeper for the problem. All replaceable fuses on the main board are viewable.

Model Yamaha ME-50 no power

John
With AC power off.
Use a meter (on Ohms scale) to check internal fuse for blown (open) fuse.
If you feel qualified & safe with AC Power On.
Check input to internal power supply on AC Scale (Caution when AC is on) for volts in.
Use meter on internal Power Supply for "probably" DC volts leaving internal Power Supply electronics to power the rest of the electronic circuits.
Switch mode power supplies can break down. They stop doing their high frequency switching so they don't convert AC to DC.
If this P/Sup is a separate box or circuit board, inside the unit, then it can have a part number & be replaced.
Good Luck

Fuse type for onkyo a-9555

The main power fuse for most amplifiers is a fast blow, 125 volt fuse for the US and a 250v fuse in countries with 220v. This unit is 125 watt so the main fuse should be 2 amps or so. The correct fuse size is written on the circuit board next to where the internal fuse was located.

Our window AC unit stopped suddenly. Completely dead. The outlet has power. It's a 220V unit. LG window AC LW2510ER Any advise what it could be? Does it shut down when it's 100F outside? Thanks...

No - the outside temperature will not shut the AC down.
You say the outlet has power? Does it have the needed 220 volts? Most of the time 220 volts is on one switch, (that operates both 110 volt legs of power at the same time). - but sometimes each leg is on a separate breaker and if "one leg" trips you will still have power at the outlet (110 volts) but you won't have the needed 220 volts. While this is not likely - it is possible - so I would want to test the outlet with a voltage tester and determine the voltage. You might try checking in your breaker box and seeing if another breaker (110volt) is tripped. The same thing applies if you are dealing with fuses instead of breakers - determine the voltage at the outlet - and if you don't have 220 and only have 110 then look for a blown fuse or as I said above - a breaker tripped.
If you do have 220 at the outlet and nothing is running - I would be looking for an inline fuse of some sort within in the unit. Many of the newer units have them and they are usually easy to spot and all you have to do is to unscrew the fuse holder and replace the blown fuse. Be sure to have the power off when handling fuses.
Note: Be aware that while breakers/fuses can trip and blow without a serious problem going on - they (blown fuses/tripped breakers) are usually a sign of something significantly wrong with the unit.
Good Luck!

Onkyo TX8211

The most likely problem is shorted output transistors. This is a straightfoward repair for any shop that works on audio gear. Expect a parts cost in the $40-$50 range.

I am stationed in Iraq; I have a Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channels Receiver that was plugged into a 220VAC outlet; it blew the 10amp 125 Volt fuse on the board; no fuses available here; is it safe to say the...

I would say : NO !
The fact tha the fuse blew wasn't because the voltage was too high, but because a component (after the fuse) became defective because of the high voltage. So there will be something defective....

125 v 4 amp fuse keeps blowing

if you plugged a 125 volt tv in to a 220 volt outlet you more than likely fried alof of the componets in the tv. Putting a bigger fuse in there is only going to increase the risk of it catching on fire so i would not recomend that. you might replace the power supply and cross your fingers and hope that nothing else cooked when the 220 volts hit it
