Component Designer won't work on Windows 7. - Sewing Machines

Need more information Audrey. If you are trying to use Windows XP, Windows 7 software on Windows 8??? without updates to both-
That would be your culprit.

You may need 5d or 6D to be compatible with windows 7 or 8. Check with your authorized Viking dealer for upgrade options.

Try w. windows 7, windows 8 is to new and your reader would not have been made for 8.

3D can be made to work with Windows 7 - I have it working just fine on my 64-bit Win.7. Go to http://www.sewmuch4retirement.com/tips.html
Tip No.4 from the top is for you - these are the instructions I followed and they worked perfectly. You do need to be sure you have the latest version of 3D - it's 7.25 I believe.

You need to reinstall them, they will be on the communication disk that came with your machine or the 4D software cd if you purchased that.

I hate to tell you....it's software upgrade time. You need 4D or later to run on "7"

3D was intended to be used on XP and also worked for some time on Vista with the proper manipulation of updates. I don't believe that it will work at all on Windows 7.

4D does work on both Vista and Windows 7. It does need the latest update for Windows 7.

3D software does not run on Windows 7.
