Have a Sanyo FW55D25F - I replaced the main board due to a power surge on the cable co. side. The picture has returned. However, the darks are pixilated with reds. Is the board defective, or are there other issues?
That doesn't sound like a main board issue, generally issues like your describing are caused by a defective timing board...I would have to think the power surge hurt that board as well
I suspected that as well don't readily see the T-Con Board on this model ... ideas where its hiding?
If its not under a metal cover then its not there, gotta love how manufactures put them on the panel board so the set has to be thrown out if they go bad.
Yep ... I looked; it's not under the metal cover. Looks to be integrated with a long, thin board that is solder-connected to the display panel.
I pulled the manual up on this set and yes its incorporated into the panel board so the set is junk unfortunately. I see this on sets that are sold to big box companies then used for promotions, Walmart being one that does this a lot, from what I have read they get a hold of the manufacture and get them to make a model just for black friday sales, promotions ect that is stripped for less money, with your set model FW55D25F that is a black Friday stripped set, the FE55A2A is the same set but with a Tcon board along with some other parts added to the other boards and it retailed for about 60 bucks more according to what I read

SOURCE: Power Surge damage. Suggestions on which part to replace.
I would start looking at the power supply, it's usually a separate board where the a/c line plugs into. In many cases i have seen that the problem you described is from a damaged power supply, sounds like something is shorting causing the power supply to continuously come on and off. I would first check the capictors to see if any of them have blown, usually cylinder looking and sometimes you'll see an X or a K at the top of the cylinder, if it's blown then the top will be bulging out instead of being flat. If all those look good then there is probably a short somewhere else like in one of the transistors, if so you'd be best to just find another power supply board to replace.

SOURCE: Sanyo DP50747 Replaced Power Supply still not working
this issue is related to either the y sustainer and z sustainer boards, checking the fuses on the y/b will giving you a good indication, if they are open(bad) then you'll have a easy fix, if not, i would try replacing the y board first.
SOURCE: one side of the tv has a black shadow and then
Disassemble TV, clean all boards from dust, unplug/replug all connectors,
most are really small, be careful, try TV again. Out Same Model TV started off the same, left bottom of screen/shadow when TV was on for awhile, since then has got worst, like 2 shadow boxes showed up, now upon startup, TV is screen is covered w/vertical lines, shut off the TV once or twice and works fine until next startup. If the above does not fix TV, look at the top of TV from Back Panel Off, Top-Center is a board called T-Con board, replace it. All the info for this board replacement is on the Bar-Code Laabel and Board itself, ie; T370HW02 VC CNTRL BD, 37T04-COG, FX-5546T03C22 (orC21)-964-0000NMP-00629-03 this board is Mgr By AU Optronics. GoTo For Parts/Pricing, they have 180 warranty on parts, aprox $45.00 for T-Con . http://www.shopjimmy.com/auo-55-46t03-c22-t-con-board.htm
If the power indicator doesnt come on at all then chances are its the power board if the standby supplies are not present.
