Defrost instructions - Refrigerators

Some are automatic, some are not. Need Make and Model.

OK most refrigerators have 3 parts that operate the defrost and if even one of these parts fail you end up with the no defrost conditions. I cannot find any photos of the defrost heater but can show you the location in this photo description=> MFI2568AEW_Freezer_Section_Parts_Breakdown Looking at that photo shows each part numbered and part listed as 17 is the defrost heater part number=> 67006386 Heating Element or here=> 67006386 Heater also in that photo is the defrost thermostat=> 67006387 Defrost Thermostat or here=> 67006387 Thermostat like before there are no photos. Click=> Defrost Heater and Defrost Thermostat Instructions removal and re-install Instructions How to test a defrost heater click=> Here Now the first thing I want you to do is Force defrost is performed by using your Freezer Display and Refrigerator keypad. Enter the Forced defrost Mode by performing the following sequence of events.
1 Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad button.
2 Press and hold the Refrigerator Temperature Keypad - minus sign
3 Release the Door Alarm Keypad and wait 3 seconds. Fd appears in the Freezer Display
4 Press the Refrigerator Down Keypad - minus sign Again. Sh should appear in the right display
5 Press again to Force Defrost Fd and Sh will flash in display indicating unit is in defrost.

You have a defrost system malfunction! Here is some links on how to troubleshoot it down to which component is malfunctioning:

The defrost heater is easy to check with a ohm meter. http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/freezer/check/defrostheater.php If you have continuity, then it is good.

You should also check to make sure the the condenser coils are clean and that air flow is good over it. I.E. the fan is operating, and not a lot of debrie on or around the condenser coils.

Simply turn it off and let it set! this will allow the coils to thaw.

Margi_smigie to use your Defrost Maagic 2000 just put hot water in the bottom pan, place frozen food on top and it will defrost. Turn over about half way through. Good luck. I have the mailing address for the company. [email protected] if you have any questions.

Hi, This model has a mother board instead of a defrost timer. If you are having a defrost issue, the first part you want to test is the defrost heaters. If you need instruction on testing the defrost cycle, please let me know so I can assist you further.

There are no buttons to defrost your freezer except the off button. The unit is a self defrost. If it is freezing up then one of the defrost components have malfunctioned.

just enter the make and model on google and choose best info. in
the meantime extract contents and wrap in blankets/duvets to keep cold. open door and push defrost button or switch unit off at mains plug. use appropriate containers and towels to catch melt water .
you may use a hairdryer or fan heater to speed this process but don't get them too close to the plastic bits. if using the defrost button it should auto-reset, if it switches back on too soon, switch off at mains. leave for half hour after defrosting, switch back on and restock.
