Unhook all your connections to the head unit except for the red 12v b+, yellow which is 12v for memory, and black which is ground. What this does is check to see if it's something connected or if the unit itself has a problem internally.

I have a kenwood kdc-mp635 and when i turn on my radio it reads protect...i recently bought it a month ago and it was all fine till a couple of days ago i was driving and it turned off and said "protect"! i reseted it and it worked for like literlly a minute then back into protect mode.. i check all my wires, amps, grouds, cdplayer wiring and cant seem to find the problem... before when i reseted it, it worked for a minute then went into protect....now it doesnt even turn on anymore all it does is reads "protect" i reseted it and still nothing....it doesnt turn on after i checked all my wiring and grouds...im stuck and in-need of help..i have no musicccc.....no radioooo...!!! i dont know what else to do?????

Yes u do....I have an 03 sierra and apparently they changed everything in 03.....the harness is over $100.....but u need it....and they dont sell a reg wiring kit from 03 and up....if it was an 02, then yes u could get away cheap......it has to do with the steering wheel switches
