SOURCE: sparks when turned on from indide right hand side
Well, I've had this problem before, the cause of the problem was grease, dirt, and food grime stuck between the magnetron and the plate. When I mean stuck I don't mean a glob or chunk it was a layer. So my advice to you is to take it apart, clean it up and put it back together. Be Careful Make sure nothing obstructs inside and outside, it must be sealed or you will get radiation going through you and you might be killed. SO MAKE SURE, you might even want to get it tested for radiation leak when your finished.
I hope this helps you out some

Yes absolutely it is the power supply and EMachines have a reputation of using less than great power supplies. Do not turn it back on as it may cause damage to motherboard components. Now as for as getting a new one they are not expensive. FIrst you have to open the case and see what the wattage is on the current one..then go to a website like TigerDirect or NewEgg and order a new one. They are not hard to disassemble or assemble. Just a few screws and unplug some wires. So anyone comfortable with working with computers or electronics can do it....the only tricky part is remembering where to plug all the wires back into. So no big deal, order one with overnight shipping, an hour to install and she should be back up running by early next week. If you have any questions please let me know.

Could be that your amps are overheating in the system causing it to shutdown to prevent damage.
