Are you getting the correct rated current float. You might be getting a lower current float. Is is easy to find the current 1 hp is 745 watts, the formula is power = voltage x current so current = power/voltage Example 1/2 hp = 372.5 watts if your pump is working with 120 VAC.
So Current=372.5/120=3.1 Your current is 3.1 amps. I suggest you get a float rated for 10 amps. If this is your case with 1/2 hp and 120 VAC. Hope this helps
possibly the mechanical mechanisim that is attached to the water level indicator is not switching your pump on properly. could be broken internally or the linkage is set up wrong.
of course there may be other issues like the power source or the motor itself or the thing has siezed up.
Do you mean it won't pump last inch of water or so? sump pumps are not designed to pump completely dry. vane pumps will pump dry. If you are pumping from one tank to another and after pumping is complete, and fluids transfer back, install a check valve on output hose to prevent back-siphoning , or don't submerge output hose on other tank. Hope this helps.
I found a replacement switch which is placed in series with the pump power plug. However when I removed the original switch and plunged the new switch I discovered that the pump motor spins but it does not pump. I installed a new pump.
I have been in this business for a ong time 34 years by the time ou take the pump apart and find the right peices it would be cheaper to buy a new pump, suggest zoeller submersable pump,,
