check that the connections are done properly telephone cable from wall plug goes into "line" input on fax machine and cable from telephone goes into "tel" on fax machine if this is correct then check that your telephone line has no problems ie. noise or line dead this is no good for comms to TX
to stop the fax automatically switching to fax mode you have to set it to manual to recieve calls and dissable the fax, there should be an auto/fax and call mode, therefore when someone calls it will go to your voicemail, but that means that you will not be able to recieve a fax.
Normally auto mode, will first try the fax, if no fax is recognised it will switch to normal line ringer, then if no answer it should go to your voicemail if unanswered.

Some Sharp fax machines require a certain type of SMTP server in order to be able to send emails. SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that authenticates senders based on their 'from' email address, meaning that it works with fax machines that are unable to send an SMTP username or password.
Two examples of SMTP setup procedures for popular Sharp fax machines are below:
In the 'Network Settings' area, enter smtp2go.com as the SMTP server, and UNCHECK the box 'POP before SMTP'. Try entering either port 2525, 25, or 587 as the outgoing SMTP port. Then, make sure you are sending 'from' an email address that is registered with SMTP2Go.
See a sample screenshot from the UX-B800SE fax below (click on it to enlarge):
Please note that Gmail's SMTP server doesn't work, as it not only requires a username/password, but it also requires that SSL/TLS is used.
Please note: some fax machines may still have a problem sending - if this is the case, use the IP address of 207.58.142.213 instead of smtp2go.com as the SMTP server.
Set your answering machine to auto answer. ♦ Your answering machine must be set to answer on a maximum of two rings. If not, you may not be able to receive faxes sent by automatic dialling. ♦ If your answering machine has a toll saver function, make sure that it will answer by the fourth ring.
Below I've provided a link to your Owner's Manual. Best of luck! Greg
