Replace Toner Message Will Not Clear

After replacing the black toner with a new Brother TN04 cartridge, the printer still reports that the toner is out and needs to be replaced.

Is there a way to get rid of this message?

    Got it. Wrong cartridge replaced. It said "M" on the toner out.

    I have the exact black toner for my BROTHER mfc 9420CN but the message is still there toner out. Is there a reset button?

    Same problem. Screen stating "toner low k." K is Black so I replaced it with a genuine brother toner cartridge. Message is still displayed. Trying lightly shaking it side to side and flipping in over in opposite directions, still nothing. I've also shut the machine off, much to the distaste of my coworkers, for 10 minutes. Turned it back on and still the message appears. Tried to press 3 and 9 to go into the reset menu, and it just beeps at me.

    After replacing the correct toner for the mfc 8460N printer the replace toner is still displayed.

Are you sure that it is not asking for one of the colour toners?

Was it a genuine cart?

Did you replace it before machine instructed Replace Toner ie no message or Order Toner/Toner Low was displayed?

I have a brothermfc 7340 printer and cannot replace the drum
Open the front of the printer by pulling the front panel toward you and down. (where you replace the toner cartridge)
Remove the toner cartridge/drum unit assembly by pulling up and toward you.
separate the drum unit from the toner cartridge by pressing the green release tab on the side and lifting them apart.
place the toner cartridge into the new drum unit
replace back in the printer
press "clear/back" button and then press "1" to cancel "replace drum" message
close the front panel.

How do I reset the Replace Toner message on a Brother HL-6180DW?
  1. Ensure the printer is turned on and otherwise ready to print.
  2. Press the front cover release button to open the front cover of the printer.
  3. Remove the drum unit with the toner cartridge installed from the printer.
  4. Now re-install the drum unit and installed toner cartridge slowly but firmly.
  5. Press and hold the Go button until Drum Clear appears.
  6. Close the front cover of the printer.
The "Replace Drum" message should now have disappeared and the LED no longer lit allowing you to continue printing

Pressing the Clear/Back button when front cover is opened. press the arrow down key to show the appropriate toner, then press 1 to reset the bias, close front cover.

You dont say what model it is but in 90% of cases with the brother printer, it is the fault of the toner cartridge. I am presuming that the toner cartridge you put in was a generic brand. On the left hand side of the toner cartridge there is a counter reset lever that needs to be in the correct position to reset the printer. You can either return the toner cartridge and request another or try to reposition the lever & gearing by taking off the left cover.

Brother 2140 toner light on, won't even try to print.
To get every bit of toner powder out of the cartridge, first remove the toner unit from the drum assembly. Second, find the little circular window on the right-side of the toner cartridge. Third, place a piece of black electrical tape over the clear window, cannot be clear tape. Fourth, re-install the toner cartridge into the drum assembly. Last, put the complete unit back into your printer. This worked for me.

HELP! Brother MFC-8460 "Toner Life End" won't clear
The problem with a new toner cartridge that will not signal the printer that it has been changed has to do with a gear positioned wrong on the new or rebuilt cartridge... we had 3 factory brand new toners that would not clear the replace the toner message... I finally found the following link that came from a toner company that sells refills that tells how to reposition the gear to let the machine know a new cartridge has been installed. I did the proceedure on pages 5 & 6 having to reposition the gear and all cartidges then worked flawless... it works.
