$300 is quite an investment to 'see if you like it'. Go to the range and ask around. Red dot is normally the best for night time, blue for daylight I think.

48 grains. That round is hard to reload. You are probably out of spec for chamber clearance.

Look at the Nosler reloading manual. You'll need the muzzle velocity to figure it out.

I assume it is a .45.ACP? if so, any 230 grain .45 ACP cartridge will work fine.
