Uninstall "Skype"and reboot your computer! For some reason Skype Hijacks the Usb port and never turns off the webcam even though it is turned off, which causes you to get the close the other video steaming applications to start video error message!

The same thing happened to me. But I believe this happened because I upgraded my Vista from 32-bit to 64-bit. How I solved it? The same way someone earlier suggested: update the driver:
1. Start the device manager (Click Start, type "device", and then click on "Device Manager" which appears as part of the search)
2. click the + next to "Imaging Devices"
3. Right click the "Integrated WebCam"
4. Click Properties
5. Click the option "Update Driver"
6. Automatically the updated driver will be loaded.
7. Restart your computer.

Hope this works for you.

SOURCE: web cam says to close other video streaming

I had the same problem on two computers and finally tracked it down to the following. I was running a face recognition program for logging in to Windows and this app was always running in the background to be ready to accept a face when the computer locked. So what I do now is right-click on the app (FastAccess Face Recognition) and temporarily disable it - the Dell Webcam Central works fine. Afterwards I just re-enable the face recognition app.

Hope this helps.

Okay my web cam is saying that i need to close the other streaming application and i dont know what else is running

Hi. it is easy to find out what applications are running on your computer at any given time. Your computer may have come with a web camera application (mine did), and if that is running, it may not allow you to use the camera in Skype or other video streaming software.
To find out if there are other streaming programs running on your computer, do the following:
1, Press CTL+ALT+DEL 2. Select "Task Manager." 3. A list of all running applications are displayed. To ens an application, select it and click "End Task."
I hope this helps.

I have a sony vaio with built in web cam and windows 7 but i cant use the web cam . why is that?

Are you using the Sony Webcam companion? If not ou can download the application from Sony Vaio website. ( Sony Web Cam Companion ). If you are trying to use skype or any other video messaging software: Try to check if there are other video chat application running in the background of your computer. Open the system configuration utility (Windows key + R > msconfig ) then go to the Startup Tab. Uncheck all application that is related to video chat and leave the preferred video chat software active (checked). Restart the computer and viola! You can now use your webcam for video chat.

When i wants to play video on internet then there is a malformed eror written on link

The problem is caused by the fact that your phone's generic browser doesn't support video streaming protocols such as RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol), and hence, the error message is generated in such a manner in response to an unsupported protocol. You may be able o solve the problem by installing third-party applications such as Bitstream BOLT browser, which supports inbuilt RTSP steams over HTTP. Navigate your phone's generic browser to www.boltbrowser.com and install the application( A web browser) from there. Depending on your phone's Java Virtual Machine, available system memory, supported JSRs( Java Specification Requests) and the type of data connection it supports( 2G, 3G, etc), it may be possible to stream video files from the internet.

Web cam says to close other video streaming application before it can proceed but there are no applications open that I know of.

try and install the right driver for this device ...that's why it says this ...it sees all wrong ...the issue with windows 7 is that does not have drivers for cameras or elder devices....if it is a built in camera ....just try to get in touch with the manufacturer and see if there is any drivers for the camera ...also ...you can try the driver for vista on 64 ...usually works ..but this is not a rule...
if there is no other chance ..until the driver will appear on the internet ...just get another camera with driver compatible with this operating system ...or roll back to vista or xp ...cause this oS is not that great anyway ...its slow...hard t use...and strange...

Close the other video streaming application to start video

Your camera is already online. Double click the camera icon in the lower right task bar and it will work. That is the problem, the program is trying to run twice. Again, the camera is online and working and the access to it is in the task bar at the bottom. You, of course, can change these setting if you like.

Web cam says to close other video streaming application before it can proceed but there are no applications open

I have an answer! I've tried many times to fix this problem on my laptop, even talking to two dell reps in the process(which was worthless). Finally I found the problem(for me, at least)- my webcam's driver was not compatible. If you haven't tried this already, go to your Device Manager, click the plus sign next to Imaging Devices, and select Integrated Webcam. Right click that and select Update Driver Software. I downloaded the latest driver it found and restarted my computer, and miraculously my webcam central was back to normal. I hope this helps you too!
