Left channel will not play - Dell A525 Computer Speakers

As you know that the right is good you can compare that with the left. First look around for burnt resistors or damaged parts.

The next thing to do is with an insulated tool poke the two channels to see what buzz sound each channel makes. You should quickly find the distortion section with this method.

Red for Right channel (play). White for Left Channel (play). Yellow for right (Record) Black left (record). The leads should run from tape (out) play to amp in play. Same for the left channel.
Record from tape (in) to Amp (out).

What exactly do you mean by "middle volume settings"? Where is the volume control physically, where are the channel levels set and what is the crossover point? After the crackling appears , do you switch speakers to the right channel to see if speakers are actually damaged or if the receiver is producing the distortion?

Yes and no. If you swap the channel leads over the fault should go to the other channel. Still the same, then not the Cassette deck.
There are several causes to one channel going. First the lead to the tape head is off or the head has gone!! Secondly a switch either on the front of the machine or the inside (when it switches to record) is faulty. Lastly an electronic fault. The good thing is that you have one good channel to play with. So as they are both the same any readings should be the same for both channels. The electronics will also buzz when touched with an insulated tool. So if it buzzers in one place in one channel it should do the same in the other in the same place.

have you tried looking at your phono leads,turn volume down until it is low enough that you can still hear the music playing,give the phono leads a turn to see if its a loose connection.if not,try the right channel phono in the left channel to see if this fixes your problem.also you could do the same with your speaker leads and see if that solves the issue.maybe a bad connection is the cause?.it may also help to try and move your cd player away from your amplifier.it could also have been overdriven (played too loud for too long) on the night of the party,only you will know if this was the case or not.

The IC in it is fied for the left channel.

There could be a number of causes for this from as simple as a dirty switch to a power supply feed to the left channel being open. Without looking at the unit, it is had for me to say. Is it worth it? In my opinioon, yes. Figure on $5-$25 for parts.

volume levels on all channels varies depending on what dsp mode you are using. to be able to determine the level you desire, just chnge the level setting of those channels. either you do it by remote control or the front panel of the amp. try setting the dsp mode on disco and you should hear higher vol levels on all channels. Do not expect as well all channels to produce same vol levels as your effects speakers may not be able handle higher power levels.

I think you mean the left channel is out but when you use test tone, the sound comes from left and right channels through the right channel speaker. If this is case, the switching IC is malfuncting. Unit needs service
