It will not lick up anything usually, but you must not drive an engine without oil pressure! You will destroy the whole thing.

Your motor relies on the oil pump to maintain all the journal bearings of critical components during operation. If this oil supply is lost, metal to metal contact occurs and the bearings throughout your engine could become damaged. In some cases the damage is so severe that the two moving parts essentially weld themselves together, leading to a seized (locked up) engine. In this case, the engine will not magically break free if the oil pump is replaced. Other components will have to be inspected and replaced throughout the engine to become fully functional again.

Seems as no oil is getting to the top of engine

Remove the valve cover, start the engine and find out. If this is the case and the top of the head is not all gummed up with sludge replace the oil pump. It the top of the head is gummed up the inside of the engine must be desludged before you install the new oil pump.

Oil pressure gage goes to o then light goes on saying low oil pressure. just had an oil change. i also have a small leak between the motor and transmission.

just because you had your oil changed dosent mean that your oil pump is working and the leak is most likley a rear main seal or an intake gasket

2004 Dodge Intrepid oil light stays on - will not go off.

have you checked the oil level in the engine on the dipstick? if so and the oil levels full, you may have a bad oil pump! do not drive or run engine until you have a mechanic to looh at it to determine it as a a bad oil pump. running the motor with a bad oil pump will damage your motor or even lock the motor up!hope this helps you and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Had the oil changed at walmart they put a fram filter on it and the filter caved now the motor appears to be locked up if the oil pump went out would it appear that the motor was locked up my husband...

Yes it is bearings, rings, and part of the cylinder. If the oil pump went out the motor would lock up. The oil pump pumps oil throughout the motor. If the pump quits, it is just like running the engine without any oil at all. Without oil pressure then the motor would lock up because nothing in the engine would get any lubrication. Don't think it has anything to do with the oil and filter. Probably just a faulty oil pump. I have heard of Walmart not putting oil back in cars, and causing them to lock up. But if you had oil in the car, and it has metal shavings, then it is more than likely the oil pump just quit.

My engine has a ticking at start up and goes away after a few minutes? I put some motor honey in it and it is better. what could this be?

It sounds as if the hydrallic lifters are bleeding off pressure after it sits. Which means the lifters somewhat collapse until they start getting oil pressure from the oil pump after you start it. You might try an oil change and an A/C oil filter. If it is the lifters, they would need to be replaced.

Loud niose from centre of manafold motor run nice & smooth ?

on the 302 you can not see the cam and lifters unless you remove the manifold. did you try removing the distributer and turning the oil pump shaft until the light in the dash goes out? that will drive oil to the upper cylinder assemblies, other than that you may be looking at replaceing some damaged bearings and or camshaft.
