Toshiba Model # 52HM84, Chassis, TAC 0490. Cooling fan does not continue to run when TV is turned off?

Normally lamp and DMD chip cooling fans would continue to run for approximately 4 minutes after TV is powered off. Now, fans turn off when TV is powered off. What circuits control the extended fan operation?

SOURCE: Toshiba 52hm84 DMD board

The DMD panel is made up of individual " Digital Micromirror devices" (DMD) one mirror per pixel. They are HD2+ DMDs which are the 4th generation DMDs. I dont have a part number but what is your set doing for symptoms? DMDs are basically small mirrors mounted on hinges that react to the digital inpulses so the signal can aim the mirrors percisely. Toshiba should have a replacement panel available. Let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: Toshiba 52HM84 DLP TV with new bulb but the lights keep blinking

They exact way the lights blink are telling you what the failure is. If the tv is firing the lamp and the lamp is bad, you will hear a buzz sound for about 1 second. The tv tries 8 times before it gives up and spits out the lamp error. Check the user manual for led diagnostics. If you put in a new lamp but still have issues, you've likely got a bad ballast (most common on this model) or colorwheel (less common). Both are part of the optical block (light engine) and I don't believe they're available as individual components from toshiba.

SOURCE: noise problem from the lamp cooling fan on 52HM85 model.

Its not the fan, its the color wheel assembly. Unfortunately, its not available from Toshiba. Check with PTS in Indiana.

I have purchased 3 new lamps. one lasted 900 hrs.

Your lamp is rated for 3000 hours. Is the fan working to cool the lamp? When you turn off the projector do you allow the fan to continue to run? If not the lamp is not cooling evenly and the lamp will fail. Th filters should be cleaned regularly and the vents be unobstructed.

Error message to check fan #3. Where is it?

If you take the rear of the set off and hold the Interlock Switch on the right side up,Turn "ON" the set and look for three fans, one of them will not be turning. There are two small fans and one large one. The Large Fan is the Lamp cooling fan and the two fans are for cooling the Ballast and the other one is for cooling the DMD chip Heat Sink. The two smaller fans are the same type. The Lamp Fan (Large one) part# is BP31-00024A and the two small fan #s are BP31-00001A. They are all easy to replace.

Problem with fan

There are either 3 or 4 fans in your set. Lamp, digital board, chassis, and sometimes ballast. The small fan you can see from the back of the set is normally the one causing trouble. If it develops a bad pole in the fan motor it will sometimes not start. If your set fails to turn on, look at the fan and see if it is running or not.

remove the back and lamp (make sure the lamp door is on) turn the tv on and look to see if the fan is running (keep you hand out of the tv when doing this - as the lamp connectors are empty) if the fan does not start - replace lamp - the connector is located under lamp housing connector JA - measure the red wire and ground (any metal part) for 12v at turn on - if 12v replace fan - if no 12v check the power pcb

Toshiba 46HM95 Buzzing

I have the same thing, mine is the cooling fan for the lamp. If the sound continues for a short time after you turn off the TV then this is the most likely cause as the cooling fan will continue to run for a short time to cool off the bulb. I have looked into replacing mine, the part runs around $50 but I can't say yet how easy it is to replace yet.
