Hi I bought an Exilim EX-Z850 a couple of years and had been quite pleased with it even though I don't use it very much. I took it a few days ago and tried to use it, but it would not start. I charge both bayyeries (one original and one spare). The camera does not start. When I insert the battery, I can see a quick green flash by the eye viewing window for a fraction of a second. Please help. Many thanks. Ben W

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
I quote: "A couple of days ago after using it when trying to see the pictures on
the camera the LCD did not show anything. The lens reacted and even
take pictures but nothing was visible on the LCD screen."
That means that there was a problem either with a LCD display or with ribbon cable.
Now:"I tried charging the battery and removing it from the camera, now the
camera only does a bit sound when switching on but nothing else, the
lens does not even come out."
That means that the ribbon cable had probably shorted, now the camera may be furtherly damaged.
The camera must be disassembled to access the LCD and fix the problem. The repair must be done by an experienced technician, as to access the LCD you need to remove both covers.
There should be a reset button on the camera, and if you can find a paperclip, turn off the camera, reset it with the paperclip, and wait for 10 seconds. Afterwards, turn the camera on and set the your info. It should stick:)
