Needle drag Lately, my arm has failed to play the enitre record. It will play the first 3 minutes of a track then get "stuck" and not continue towards the center of the record. This causes the stylis of my needle to drag and causes terrible sound quality. What should i adjust to help the arm continue on its correct path and not get "stuck"

Hi, i know this sounds stupid but have u tried using a different record as the record your using may have a defect which wont allow it to play any further. I would also make sure that you weight the tonearm as much as possible but not to much that you wear ur needles out. Let me know how you get on. Gud luck!

The tone arm drops onto the record, but then continues moving across the record without playing the record. Anyone know what's going on?

Does the needle actually contact the record? If not, you may be missing a "pad" under the record, or you may be simply missing the needle that needs to be there to follow the grooves.

Why does my Memorex 2650MMO turntable shut off after 20 seconds of recording?

The tracking is way off. Start it with the arm cued and see if it does the same thing. If there is no concentric motion moving the needle towards the center post, then the issue is the tracking. There is a sensor that tells when the arm has reached the end of the record.

Needle stylus unit rubbing the record.

There's too much weight on the stylus or the needle is not inserted correctly.

Wurlitzer one more time. no sound and record will not eject

There is a switch just under the tone arm. When the tone arm moves towards the centre it slowly pushes two copper strips together. When they meet it starts the motor to eject the record. If you can't Cancel the record with the cancel button then that is a different problem, otherwise you can adjust the trip switch by inserting a 7mm spanner down the hole to the right of the tone arm post.

All the arm does whenever I try to play a record is move across the record. This even happens with a brand new needle. I'm ready to get a new turntable.

there is a counter balance on the side of the arm called an anti skating weight.it prevents the grooves on the record from pushing the stylus inward, wearing out one side.when the anti skate weight system has a fault,it drags the arm toward the center of the record faster than needed.there is also a weight on the back of the arm.that is the balance.when set to zero, the arm should balance.then the weight is turned to 1 gram or so.if there is not enough force downward, the anti skate mechanism will drag the arm inward.

Hi, Does the arm have a lever to lift the arm up, also called a cue. I had an arm where it did exactly the same thing and found it to be the lifting device. What turntable is it you have?

Needle skips

A needle is a precision part. Look to see if the needle has a conical point descending from the cartridge needle carrier. If not, replace the needle.
*Always protect the needle while you adjust things!
Pressure is essential for the needle to track. Turn the weight down until the needle just floats above the record. Zero the weight by turning just the weight indicator, not the weight. Now turn the weight to add 1.2 to 1.5 grams. (Always use the manufacturer's recommended weight if different!)
A level surface is important. Make sure the turntable is level.
Test the arm bearings:
Adjust the weight until the arm floats. With a feather, gently push the arm towards the center. Now gently push it back. The arm should move smoothly with no hesitation and easily. Reset the weight to 1.5 grams or less.
If your cabinet is moving when you walk around, the records will skip. Find a different place for the turntable or don't walk around. In severe cases, raise the weight to 1.75 to 2 grams, but this wears the needle fast an can cause distortion.

Machine appears to record per instruction manual but will not play anything back and the instruction manual includes NOTHING on playback except to hit STOP when we're through recording, back up to the...

it appears to be recording but is it really?
when you are recording there are two levels you should see moving up and down on the screen. the input volume and the recording volume per track. dont forget to arm the track. tascam has a silly way to arm the track on some of there unit. its combination of buttons. something like hold down the record button and press the track arm button then release both. when youre ready to record press play.
