Could the cleaning assy for the transfer unit be bad? Expensive parts! Are the parts being installed by a service tech?

It's purely mechanical problem. Kindly check the proper position of the transfer belt and check very well if there is a particular part that is not properly fixed or out of position. Also observe closely which side the damage comes from

SOURCE: transfer belt errors

helped me and solved the lever and transfer belt. Actually it is the combined black toner cartridge and transfer belt. The side plate is about 3 inches long and has the two screws fixing it on. The sensor has a single screw fixing it, but in fact just looks like a black cover plate. Lever it out easilly at the screw end, not the other end which is impossible.

I just blew out the **** in the sensor, wiggled the white 3 pin connector, and since it has the look of a reflection based optical sensor, then I cleaned the belt along its edge with antistatic cleaner , ie tissue paper soaked and rotate the gear to move the belt round. There is a silver patch on the belt which passes the sensor once every revolution of the belt, and I gave this a particularly good clean as it is probably the only bit that matters.

Anyway, several black refills (hole and a bit of tape sealing it) later and the unit still works fine. Actually I always refill everything and just high pressure blow off the whole printer every so ofter.

SOURCE: TRANSFER BELT ERROR

This error indicates that there is a problem with the transfer belt. Either it has failed, reached end of life ( it is a consumable item, just like toner, and needs to be replaced on occasion ), or just is not correctly installed.

Try reseating it first. Remove the imaging drum unit ( the housing that holds the 4 toners ). The transfer belt is the unit behind the drum that is inserted along the top edge of the drum cavity.
it can be a little tricky to get it in there correcty. Kind of hold it up against the top of the cavity as you slide it back towards its holder.

SOURCE: Transfer Belt vs Transfer Roller

Its a bogus message. Simply open and close the front cover of the machine. It resets it and the message disappears.

I have some ricoh aficio 1224c with errors c481

SC481
Transfer belt mark detection error
• The main motor is operating; and
the lock signal is detected. → The
belt mark sensor signal does not
change for 120 milliseconds.
• Defective main motor
• Image transfer belt out of position
• Belt mark blurred or absent

I would remove the pcu unit (3 screws)and check the transfer assy belt mark and clean the sensor that reads the belt mark. Worst case senerio is replaceing the entire pcu unit.

Problem code: SC481 What does it mean and how serious is it?

The error is related to the Transfer belt mark detection, which means that there a mark on the transfer belt and a sensor to detect the mark to make sure that the belt is turning around.
The problem could be if the sensor is dirty, the belt is dirty, belt is out of position or damaged(torn), or worst case, the motor is bad.

How do I reset the replace transfer belt message on a Ricoh CL2000

You'll have to replace the transfer belt with a brand new one in order to clear that message. Installing a transfer belt from another machine won't clear it -- it must be a completely new unit.

"transfer belt error"
Turn machine off (unplug), reseat the transfer belt, and try again. If the problem persists, clean or replace sensors, replace the belt, or replace the motor. Check the contact and release mechanism on the transfer belt.

How can i fix this problem ??

Turn the transfer belt by hand to check for any binding or noises. It could also be the fuser rollers causing the noise due to bad bearings since it sits above the transfer belt when it it closed into the machine.

Do you know how to remove the transfer belt to check?
