Under hood, remove large plastic wether cap from back of light, remove 3 point lug from unit, depress the rounded end of the retaining spring inside the open area, while depressing it push it over to one side to release the pressure off the globe, remove globe, new globe will fit in only one position, be careful not to touch globes end with fingers as the oil in your skin is dtremental to its operation. assmbly is then in reverse. Good luck

The two "V" springs on the grill/globe need to be squeezed together and both pieces of one spring are run through one hole and the same for the other side.
But it can bite!!
Be sure to keep the grill/globe pulled down so just the hooks of the springs are inside the fan chassis/box.
Push the grill/globe upwards. As the springs go through the hole the will spread out and that action is what holds the grill/globe in place.
On this model Sony the lamp access is located to the side of the set. You will see a small hook you can push down with you finger releasing the lamp outer cover. There might also be 1 screw to remove the panel.
Now you will see the lamp inner cover. It has a grey handle in the middle of it - to dark to see down there, get a flash light. Remove this by turning it counter clock wise. Now pull the cover out. Note the chip on the one corner of the cover. It can only fit back the same way.
Now you will find a slot you can fit your finger into. Pull this down and pull the old globe out.
FYI - If the globe has burnt leaving a white discharge behind inside the globe - great, your TV is healthy. If it blew with a black discharge I would suggest you take a hear dryer on cold setting and blown as much dirt from inside the globe cavity as possible. also try not to switch your TV on and off to often. If you leave the room and you know you will be back within a hour, leave the set on. You will much easier reach 8000 hours of globe life. 8000 Hours is possible, I have seen it before.
Now place the new globe into the socket. Just push it in until you feel the locking mechanism engage. Return the inner lamp cover. Turn the grey lever clockwise.
Now all that is left is to clip the outside cover into place. Put the screw back if there was one.
If you have to remove more than 1 screw - you have gone too far.
P.S There are certain lamps that does not have a clip, but rather a HEX key screw. You will receive this hex key if you bought a genuine Sony globe in the box.
I had the exact same problem. To solve it, I had a friend hold the area of the fan that the globe screws into. I wore rubber dish gloves to get a good grip and pushed up slightly on the globe as I turned counter-clockwise. My friend held the other part and turned clockwise a little as well. It took a lot of pressure for it to finally come loose and then we just turned it about another 90 degrees and the globe slips right out of the groove.
