The only time the Security Code is used is to effect
Remote Access, ie, "call home and manage your
answering machine messages remotely" by pressing
the code numbers while the Greeting is being said....

The Security Code is set on the D1680 from the handset
by this procedure:

press [menu]
scroll to "Ans. Setup"
press [select]
scroll to "Security Code"
press [select]
the code will be displayed, first digit blinking
(enter a new digit if you want to change it )
the code will be displayed, second digit blinking
(enter a new digit if you want to change it )
press [select] (chirp) press [END}

All of the Answering Machine System functions can
be managed remotely, and voice menus are provided
to guide you in these operations.

Entering the model number found on a small sticker under
the battery in the handset at www.manualslib.com will
fetch a free copy of the User's Manual in case the original
has been misplaced.

Good luck!

See pg 64-65 and if you need to set pin, pg 25. Be blessed.

I cannot remember if I entred a new security or used the original one. Could u tell me what the original number is? If not how can I find out my security # to access remoetly?

The D1680 doesn't come with a security code so you must have entered one. You can change the security code following the instructions on page 15 of the manual. You'll need to be at the phone, so you can't do this remotely.

Uniden d1680 answering machine doesn't record messages, only dial tone.

If the system doesn't answer the call at all then you need to turn the answering system on. If it answers the call but does not record a message then you need to turn "Announce Only" off. Both of these are in the Answering System Menu options described on page 13 of the manual.

Lost my manual and cannot remember how to get messages remotely

Since I have not idea what exact model you have this may or may not work... I hope it helps, as it is for a Uniden answering service phone.

Remotely Operating Your Answering Machine

Note: The answering machine will only playback messages for four minutes and then it returns to the command waiting mode.

To continue playing your messages, press [#] then [2] again within 15 seconds.
To operate from a remote location, use any touch-tone telephone and follow these steps:
1.) Call your telephone number and wait for the answering machine to answer
2.) During the greeting message, press [#] and enter your PIN code within 2 seconds;

How to enter a PIN
To play your messages from a remote location, you will need to enter a two-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) or PIN Code.
Press the MENU soft key. Select the ANSW. SETUP menu, and then the SECURITY CODE submenu.
Enter a two-digit security code (00-99) using the number keypad [0-9].
Press the OK soft. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Remote access

Call into your unit, press the * key twice, enter your pin and listen to the menu options. If you need the manual, you can go to www.cordlessrepair.com for a free download. Look on the left hand side for user guides and manual link, that will take you to a list of manuals for your model. In the meantime, if you forgot your pin you will need to reset the pin and choose a new one since remote admin will not work with the default pin of 0000. If you need to reset your pin, on your base push Menu, scroll to System Settings, then dial * 6 5 #, that will reset your pin. Then go back into system settings and change the default pin of 0000 to a four digit code you can remember. Once that is done you can call into your machine remotely, and when you hear your greeting playing dial * twice, enter your pin and your in.
