Re: My Panasonic viera wont turn on from standby. It...
Hi Cloda,
It is mostly the power supply section which gets damaged due to power surge. In many cases the damage is repairable. Please contact some local TV tech.
Good Luck.

The Vieras have standby codes that are not published because few Plasma TVs are serviceable by owners. Power surges will cause the blinking sometimes and the only remedy to the owner is to unplug the TV for a few minutes to let the power supply reset and plug it back in to see if you still get the shutdown mode blinks. If you do, the only remedy is to contact Panasonic at 1-877-95VIERA (USA) or 1-866-330-0014(Canada)
Try disconnecting all HDMI cables and plugging the TV into a new wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, it may have been caused by a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices.
Three flashes of standby light denotes a fault to SOS D-board. If you wish to get more details about this fault, check the link sited below. Blinking codes http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ many brand TVs are given in detail. Pull up older posts there by its left sidebar.
Same issue with - Panasonic TH-50PX70A , power UP with red standby, then power ON by remote - only Gives GREEN led blinking 35-40 times, followed by solid green led with no no picture no sound.
>> Solution; unplug Plasma from AC 10-15min, then plug in & power on to Red standby led,, At this point - Power ON tv while holding down both -Volume Down and F (function Select) buttons (front panel door) at the same time turns picture ON,all ok.
yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.
Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on
Hi to all, My 42" Panasonic plasma have the same problem. It turned itself off and now red light flashes 7 times, than after short pause 7 times again. And so on. Any ideas what is wrong??
same frustrating symptoms on brand new 42inch here! tv just turns itself off sometimes without warning or if changing to certain channels. leaves red light flashing for a while then red light goes away. any attempts with remote gives flashing green liht on tv. manual power off and on restarts tv but auto off again. found while manual power on keep changing channel on remote till stable picture appears. then use remote to shut down tv - solid red light indicates standby mode. then use remote to turn on again... till next time it happens. but what is technical fault??
Check the 2 main interconnection cables (24pin and 26pin) rear of PDP and Tuner box.
Make sure they are firmly connected. (Loose connection of 24pin will cause no power
on symptom.)
