My Sony VLP-CS5 worked fine for 3 years. One day I tried to switch it on, but there was no power indicator. Nothing happened. I left the projector connected for 3 months, without using it and yesterday all of a sudden the power light was on again. I pressed the power button and the projector functioned normally. After unplugging the power cord and re-inserting it again, the power light aging did not come on and the projector does not work again. I suspect the power circuit, but I can't find any "wrong looking" components there. The lamp has only 20 hours on it and the lamp timer has been properly reset. What baffles me is that the projecter came back to life after having been plugged in for 3 months and lost it's life again after being unplugged for an hour. Any suggestions ?

I have the same problem. I've taken the lamp cover off and I don't get any lights. I opened the air filter cover and tried power with the same issue. I had this issue for over a year where it would not work one weekend and the following weekend it comes back on.

I have the same problem: if I unplug the projector and plug it again, it won't work for hours. After that it will work OK until next plug off or energy problem.
Is there any solution?

If your Sony VPL-CS5 Red LCD isn't working, you may need to replace the lamp. You can purchase a replacement lamp from the manufacturer's website or from an authorized retailer. You may also need to check the power cord and connections to ensure that everything is properly connected. If the issue persists, you may need to contact Sony customer service for further assistance.
Have a nice day!

to clean the lamp: no chemicals, nothing abrasive. you can touch the outer glass (not with your fingers), but do not touch anythjing inside the bell. best thing to use is a microfiber cloth. your lamp is nearing or has passed 2000 hours of use. the projector is telling you to replace it before it blows (and sometimes shatters). after you replace it, reset the lamp timer (through the menu).
Give input signal to the projector and see that if the menu appears or not on the screen.
if menu comes on the screen then put the backgroung color to blue, instaed of black.
if nothing comes on the screen, then the LCD panels are faulty.
the cover switch is probably not fully made.
Ensure that the cover tangs are pushing the pin
on the miniswitches.
Try putting slight pressure on the fan or lamp cover to see if the lamp/cover light
stops flashing.
you will need to do a restart on the PJ to check this out
