Archos not coming on

Archos wont come on and won't charge even with the DVR station

  • DSL1 Dec 12, 2007

I have the same problem right now with my 504 - the screen just faded out and the unit turned off. When I turned it back on it prompted me for a firmware upgrade. Well I had downloaded the latest and it happened to be on the 504 so I said go ahead. I have not been able to get it to work since. The hard drive does not spin, the charge light does not come on, the screen is blank. I've tried all the solutions except the one on this thread to leave the battery out for several hours. I'll try that one and if it doesn't work, this thing is going back to the store.

My Archos 504 has faded to black! At first, I thought the unit was not coming on. I took the battery out and put it back, but nothing. I then discovered that holding it at an angel, I could see the unit was working and could barley see the folders on the first page. It works with the docking station and computer, but having it in portable mode is not working due to not being able to see the screen. What could the problem be?

This happens to me alot. You need to take out the battery then push the reset button on the right hand side of the battery connector on the system.

Alternatively, take out the battery and leave it out for about 6 hrs. when you put the battery back in, it would work.

It took me several weeks to solve this problem when i first bought it

I have an archos 404. i have a dvr station as well. How do i get my movies from my archos to play on my tv?

The Archos 404 attaches to the TV using either a DVR Station or a special AV cable. The AV cable uses a special small audio-style mini plug on one end to the standard red, white and yellow composite video connectors on the other. The docking station can record from and playback to the TV. The DVR Station 5 uses S-Video and red/white RCA plugs for connection to the TV. Optionally you can use the yellow/red/white composite connections instead. Hook it up similarly to a VCR, input from the cable box to the input of the DVR Station and output of the DVR Station to the input of the TV.

Can I charge archos 604 batteries using dvr station and power outlet?

yes you can, however the battery must be inserted into the 604. Simply dock the 604, ensure the dvr is turned on and the 604 will automatically turn on and start charging.

I CAN RECORD FROM MY TV BUT I CANT GET MY ARCHOS 5 TO SHOW ON THE TV ,WHEN I PLUG MY ARCHOS INTO THE DVR STATION THE OPTION TO SET IT UP FOR TV DOES NOT COME UP . I WOULD BE VERY GREAT FULL FOR ANY HELP,...

You should swtch your TV to the video mode on to the video output chosen for the device. Check the video connecion type by following the output cables from the DVR station or charging dock to to TV. it could be video 1, 2, 3 HDMI, Color stream HD1 , Color stream HD 2, by scrolling down on the video mode list you should get the picture on on of them with correct video mode. or like i was saying follow the output cable from dvr station to Tv to see which video mode it was connected.

Archos 604(Gen 4), Remote(Archos DVR Station Gen 5) Work or not?

If you mean will the Gen 5 DVR Station Remote work with a Gen 4 DVR Station, I believe it will for at least the basic player controls on your 604 (except for the alpha keyoard entry because the Gen 4 players did not have this feature enabled).

If you mean, will the Gen 5 DVR Station Remote control your Archos 604 directly (without a dvr dock), the answer is no, you must have a DVR Station for the remote to work on any Archos player.

Hope this helps.
