Although my dishes come out clean, dry and spotless, the green "Sanitized" light no longer comes on after the load is finished, only the "Clean" light is on. This problem occurs even if the sanitize button is lit prior to starting the load. Is there an additive I'm supposed to add in order to get my dishes sanitized or to get the light to work, do I have a burnt out sanitized light or do I have a bigger problem?
You don't need an additive.
The sanitized LED itself is probably out.
It will not light up if the sensor doesn't sense that the water has reached 155 F. If the dishes are getting clean, I assume the heater is working properly. You could have a failed sensor, but you would usually notice longer than normal wash times and the dishwasher getting hotter than usual.
Alternately press heat dry and hi temp scrub 4 times. This puts washer into diagnostic mode. The first thing that happens is all the LED's light up. If it lights up then it is ok and the problem is somewhere else.
If these instructions don't apply to your machine, please post the complete model number from the decal just inside the front of the tub and I will look it up for you.
Thanks for the numbers. This helps alot on Kenmore appliances because there are so many different manufacturers that build them.
The 587 at the beginning of the model number tells us this is a Frigidaire product. I gave you the sequence for the Whirlpool built Kenmore.
The manual for this machine covers different configurations of controls that you may have under the Kenmore, Frigidaire, or Amana name brands.
You should have a tech sheet inside the lower kick panel that gives the correct test procedure for your machine. If it is missing, here are the different ways to enter test mode given in the manual.
Hold down NO HEAT DRY and START/CANCEL buttons at the same time for 1 1/2 seconds.
Hold down POWER DRY OFF and START/CANCEL buttons for 1 1/2 seconds.
Hold down HI-TEMP WASH and START/CANCEL buttons for 1 1/2 seconds
Hold down WASH BOOST and START/CANCEL buttons for 1 1/2 seconds
One of these should put your machine into diagnostic cycle and check the controls and components.
Post back if you have more questions.
Thanks/Mike

Thanks for the help, but that diagnostic mode did not work on my dishwasher. Maybe its a different method for my model.
Model #: 587.15072201
Serial #: TH33587060
I tried to find a manual for my dishwasher, but had no luck at all.
Thanks again for all your help.
Thank you very much for all your help, I guess it just needed a little diagnostic testing. After a test load the "sanitized" light now comes on.
The clean and sanitize lights do not come on sometimes,
i set the dishwasher to sanitize and when the dishwasher is done, the light is not on and the dishes have a white film
