Recumbent bike seats adjust forward and backward along a track, if the adjustment does not lock into place it could be that the pin is just not lining up with the seat adjustment bracket. Or that it needs replaced.

Now if you have an upright bike, there is a bracket right under the seat that hugs the seat post. You need to tighten the bolt on that bracket and it should fix the problem.

In some cases the thread on that bolt could be worn out, you will need to replace the bolt, buy a new seat bracket or just get yourself a new seat.

Hope this helps you out in any way.

After pedaling my Body Champ magnetic recumbent bike there is a clunking sound from the front--- What causes and how do I fix??

Question edited for clarity, full make model (what it is), and wrong type of peddle (drugs) / pedal (a bike).
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to Exercise Bike category.

That noise is normally caused by adjustable bearings that need tightening up. There is help in the link.

Does the seat recline?

If it reclines there is a handle to release it, does it have one? If not it doesn't recline.

What's better a recumbent or an upright exercise bike?

Recumbent bike works best for elderly people with back and hip problems because of the relaxed position and the angle that put's less pressure on those areas. Upright exercise bike works on more areas than the recumbent bikes including the lower abdominal muscles.

Dont know how to fit the seat to the bike

1. Tighten the bolt on the seat-post of your bike's seat if your seat is a bit shaky. You may need to replace this bolt if it is rusted or withered.

2. Adjust the pitch angle of your seat if it is uncomfortable. You can have it level, leaning forward or leaning backward depending upon what is more comfortable for you. Use an Allen wrench (Allen key) to loosen the bolt on the-seat post to adjust the angle.

4. Tighten the tension on the cover of the seat if the seat has one and it is loose. If it has 2 straps underneath the seat attached with a hook, release it from the hook and tighten, then re-hook the straps.
